It looks like if you get a Snap On set you will be very lucky.
Back in June there was a meeting for the reps to attend, at this meeting the where told about the drag sets and if they wanted them they had to order them then. I bet only 40% of the dealers ordered them. They only made enough sets for the pre orders. Now every one and there dog wants one and there are not enough to go around.
I should hear from the Matco man by Monday.

I went to the website and "ordered" 2 cars, and the got the estimate for shipping UPS Ground. The total for shipping was $8.42 to my house in Georgia. Looks like they WILL combine shipping.

Not trying to rock the boat here, but do the people making the NHRA-John Force set not know how far a "scale" dragstrip is? 13' My calculator say it's 20'7". I do have to admit nowhere does it actually say "1/4" dragstrip though. Just wondering if anyone esle thinks as warped as I do

One more thought for the day. AW verses John Force set. Which is best and why? Is it the cars, the track, power supply"s....what would make you buy one over the other. I am asking this for a reason. My wife has figured out I really like these HO cars, imagine that. AND, since I haven't been going to the 1/24 track much lately, she wanted to get me a track to "play" with at home with our son. Thanks for your input.

Unless you really want the funny cars, the NTB set sounds like the best bang for the buck to me. It comes with 26 ft of track. Even if 3 ft of that is curve pieces, you still have enough straights to make a full 1/4 mi. I think these are selling for about $90. The Force set comes with 13 ft of track and 2 cars. So basically you are paying more just for the Force name.
Also, I think I read that AW track is the same as Tomy track.
just my 2 cents

Matt, So far, it looks like we are thinking the same thing. The ONLY thing I didn't like about the NTB set was the 2 NASCAR's. I guess I could use the chassis from them to make something else though. Do you know if the NTB set has any type of starting light or a timing system? Better yet, do you have their link handy? Keep in mind, I am just getting into the HO stuff. Is the Tomy track a "good" track to use? What are most "tracks" useing? Plastic or MDF board? I know that the times will be different between plastic and MDF, but I'm not sure HOW much. At $18.99 a piece, I can buy the Funny Cars by themselves.

The NTB set is just like the Force set as far as starting line and finish line. Here is a link to an e-bay auction for a NTB set. cgi.ebay.com/AUTO-WORLD-DRAGSTRIP-STOCKCAR-SLOT-CAR-SET-PROMO-/310276306991?pt=Slot_Cars&hash=item483de8b82f=He wants $200 for a $90 dollar set but it gives you an idea of what it has. None of the AW sets come with a timing system. As for the Tomy track, It's as good as any plastic track. My dragstrip was made out of Tomy until I got my SCI track. I won F/C and got runner-up in ratt rod at Sam's 2008 fall nationals by testing and tuning on Tomy track. Matt

I'm sorry it took so long to reply to this post. I just was able to get up off the floor and catch my breath from laughing so hard. Man, now THAT tkaes some balls. I think I will just "hint" to the wife to stop by NTB and pick one up. What do you think the chassis are? Would the NASCAR chassis be any good for drag racing?

The pro stockers have the same 4-gear chassis as the force funny cars. The stock cars have the super 3 chassis under them. The super 3's run ok but they really benefit from a gear change. They come with a 25t crown gear but it really likes a 20t. Stock they aren't as fast as a stock Tomy super G+ but they are about as fast as a tyco or life-like.

If you really want a Super III to come to life put a 3.5 ohm Tyco arm in it.
