Hey all, Wood expressed interest in a magnatraction/x-traction class. I would support that class if it followed along the same lines as the 4-gear class. They would make another great entry level class if we only allowed slip on silicone tires and not allow swapping arms and magnets between chassis types. I would also like to see stock looking muscle car bodies on them. I'm pretty sure that everybody has at least a couple of these chassis in their box.
I would consider hosting a race like the F.A.S.T. series runs. The top 8 qualifiers race heads up. After that, the #9 races #10, #11 races #12 etc. the best 2 out of 3. This would increase the fun factor for the guys that aren't hardcore about building rocket ships.
Just kicking around some ideas, let me know what you guys think
Matt

Stock Magna Tractions sounds like a great idea. Just as Matt suggested. The only mod is a pair of $2.00 slip on silicons. All other tuning ok. ie: Shoe adjustment ,brush adjustment, matched magnets. I would also like to see no balanceing of arms. just my 2 cents.

I'm pushing for muscle cars. Something that you would see on the street. We already have Pro Stock with the inlines. Between Aurora, JL and AW there are dozens of bodies to choose from.
I'm thinking
Magnatraction or X-traction chassis. No mods allowed
stock armature for the chassis type selected. no modifying the arm except for polishing the com. 14 ohm min.
stock magnets for the chassis selected. no additional traction magnets allowed.
stock wheels and front tires. rear tires may be replaced with slip on silicone .480" max diameter
any available brushes, springs and shoes. no braids or shunts allowed.
street type muscle car body. wheel wells can not be cut and the body may not be lowered by moving the mounts.

Yeah i understand we have a PS with in but i think a budget PS class would be good.but the idea of doing like a Muscle car class does rock. maybe make them look ike saturday night street stocks at the local drag strip. I like it Matt.

On second thought maybe we should allow wheel changes to add that personal touch. Like Vincent rims or screw on wheels. As long as the width and hieght is correct. Thats the problem getting old. Thoughts come. Thoughts go.

I'd go along with any prototypical plastic wheel. NO delrin, double or single flanged wheels. front and rear wheels must match. No tiny o-ring front tires. Front tires must be nearly equivalent to stock front tires.
I feel that every change that is made takes this 1 step farther from a cheap, basic entry level class.

I think you nailed it Matt. Basically a box stock class. slip ons, brushes and basic blueprinting. Maybe 1964 to 1980 muscle car bodies.

I'd go for the '64-'80 body rule.

Sounds good to Me, all the same rims and just add slip on silicon tires and bodies from 1964 to 1980,this is a good cheap class.

I sure would be up for this class also. Don't think I like the idea of changing the wheels though. Kind of takes away the "stock" in the class then.
