I think there may be a deal in the works to buy the track. If that happens NHRA will return. My fingers are crossed.

Yes it is a shame that so many tracks shut down and never return. Usually due to noise ordinances that were not there when the opened the tracks.

Englishtown cut their drag racing program because of insurance premiums. they have skyrocketed. considering some accidents in recent past it is becoming more and more difficult to find insurance at all.

Well on a good note, Spokane County Raceway (local) had a very active schedule in 2018 and is due to have a lot of activity in the coming 2019 season. It has had it's problems in the past but seems to be thriving now. I joined their FB page for updates and have every intention of making it out there in 2019 .

Speeds of the cars have increased by quite a bit even since I stopped racing 10 years ago. This no prep crap is also making it more dangerous as the cars are even more squirrely than they are with prep. I saw one small track that allowed the spectators to stand right on the track while the cars were doing a burnout. Pure Idiocy.... I cannot count how many times I saw cars hit the wall doing a burnout. That is a recipe for disaster.
