While surfing e-bay the other day I saw a Blue dragster arm on a T-jet gear plate for sale. So for giggles I bid on it and won. So.... I have a few question, since I'm a noob. I have no class in mind, just want to build a fast T-jet and looking to the masters for some help and suggestions. I run on the AW pro drag strip with a 22 volt power supply.
1st what magnets should I pair with it. 2cd what brushes 3rd I was going to pick up some Tiger Tail braided pick up shoes 4th do I need to worry about upgrading the gears? 5th wheel and tire suggestions
Any help would be appreciated. Also if there is something I have overlooked, please feel free to point that out. Thanks in advance Jim

I too have a Blue Drag arm put up to use at some point, matched poles, balanced and trued, so it should be quick. Bought it from an old racer named "Bear" just before he passed away. I would check a little more on those arms tho if you really plan on it being extremely fast. From what I have read, since they were actually designed to use in a 4 gear chassis, they're sposed to have a different 'torque' rating. Translated (at least as far as what I've heard), they are "fast out of the gate, but drop pff some before the finish line". So, you most definitely would wanna play with gear changes til you hit the right combo, if you use it on a 'standard' tjet type car. Magnets, that depends on who ya ask. A lot of guys swear by the old "Super 2's", some like the new Dash magnets, I prefer the early run JL stock mags (dark blue and white), only because they are still pretty easy to get a hold of, and their strength is comparable to the Supoer 2's. Brushes, again, depends on who ya talk to. I personally change all mine over to the Wizzard racing ones, as a large bag usually runs about 10 bux or so, you can get 10 to 12 setys on an average. So it's a good deal for the price. By far, I'm NO expert on ANY of this. I'm still learning myself, altho I have 'picked up' some things, just from 'hanging around' here for the last 3 years..lol. You might get better answers over on the other message board (Hobbytalk). They tend to get 'long winded' over there about tchnical stuff, so it would be a good place for 'generic' tech tips. Also, if you try to get ahold of some of the faster guys on here, they could probly give you a LOT more help. Actually, if you were to ask something like this in the 4 gear or NTRA area, you might get more answers as well. Ron (Bondo)

Thanks Bondoman. I was going to use a standard T-jet chassis, so thanks for the tip on gearing. On the JL magnets. Are they the stock JL that come in the 500's? I will try the wizzard's brushes too, can't beat the price. I really appreciate your help. I wasn't sure where to put this. I will wait to see if anyone else chimes in, then possibly move it. If that doesn't work I will try Hobbytalk .

Jim,
Those are the magnets Bondo is referring to. Good affordable magnets. I don't have any experience with the blue armatures. Hopefully one of the Tjet experts will chime in.

Thanks SKR. I was just wondering if those were the standard magnets in the Johnny Lightening t- jet 500's magnets and not some special hop up ones.
