not sure this pic will post but came up with a simple vaccume form for both top fuel and funny car that will work with most inline chassis. Tried to form the wings and engine via the vaccume forming but they came out but ugly so parts were added on the TF body. Attachments:

sort of completed cars, not the best detail worker around... you can see the wing attempts in the back ground... Attachments:

those will work Bananasmoothie, the main concept is to use a normal inline chassis and incorporate it's components. I use a piece of large paperclip to tie in the body to the chassis via the front tire clips (440x2) or holes (P-3 etc), then use the front tire assembly where it needs to go. Attachments:

the irony of it all is that I made them for my direct drive dragsters but I have to use velcro to attach the body to the wire chassis, and if the front don't stick down velcro is loose enough to cause lift and followed closely by airborn ;D Attachments:

I would suggest, at least from an 'appearance' standpoint anyway, glue a piece of brass or aluminum 1/16 inch tubing in the front axle holes (you may have to drill the chassis holes out a little), then just cut a straight pin and insert it in each side of the body. Simply 'kink' the pin in the middle to stay in the tubing. Basically, just like the 1/25 scale guys use to mount bodies. You will definitely have to cut the straight pins, since you definitely don't have enough width to use them without shortening them. Bodies do look interesting tho. With enough detail work, I can see them looking fairly nice. Not much of a 'vac form' kinda guy myself, since I LOVE detail, and you tend to lose some of that with vacuuming. But, I can definitely see a use for these. Ron (Bondo)

BTW..you could use the same method for your 'direct drive' cars too. Simply glue, or solder, the tubing to the rails, and mount the same way. DEFINITELY would hold better than velcro! ;D Ron (Bondo)

Altho, looking at the width of the front of the rail body, you may have to use 2 tubes, in different spots, or glued right against each other, and slide a pin on each side of the body (at 'staggered' points if you understand what I mean), since I don't think there's enuff width to even ATTEMPT to put a pin in the same tube on each side. I know that will add weight, but I do believe it would be minimal, especially if you use aluminum tubing. Ron (Bondo)

Yep, they work very well, ta I actually used a Tomy Turbo chassis as part of the master for this mold, the reason being the chassis mounting tabs are molded into the body, so it just clips straight on

Those are some good ideas Bondoman and making them so they snap in on stock chassis mounts is a great idea Bananasplit, except I want to make a body that will fit different company chassis. To be sure more mods will be forth coming. Now if I just wasn't allergic to superglue....
