So I guess what I want to know is, if you guys been running at 13.8 volts what advice can you give us to get these Specialty chassis' to run?? I assume this is standard where you guys run? What do you do?? Anyone hiding little batteries in the trunk? Big strong magnet at the end of the track pulling them to the finish line? Weaker magnets? I never built a car to run at such a low voltage. Any tips would be appreciated since I never been on a 13.8 volt set up. I have to be competetive. Thanks Joe65SkylakGS

Joe,
Hi Joe,
Perhaps they can post time from last year's run and get suggestions from the winner. I ran but only finished top 5 or so. My car was the same one I run in Skippack so Ididn't set anything up specifically for the event. From what I'm reading you will be able to use the AW magnets in the older Chassis, perhaps even lower the magnets a bit. Pick up shoe contact is crucial so you need to get the tire/rail height right. Remember no wheelie bar.
Just my $0.02

Original magna-traction chassis and gear plate matched motor magnets AW armature all stock AFX gears AW brushes AFX long flat shoes AW springs AJs Black Panthers rear tires No traction magnets and last but not least... lots of test and tuning. Yes I am using AW springs on both the shoes and the brushes. That's what I had on hand when I rebuilt the car. Instead of people worrying about what I'm running, they should be concerned with what "The Rocket Man" Wood is running. ;D Matt

Yea, I guess that was a while ago Matt. Except for a couple of 'bright' moments, the last year has kinda been a blur for me. Oh, I'm worried about BOTH of you guys! Even more so, since mine still hasn't been tested (still working on it as we speak) ;D Ron (Bondo)
