Hey Joe - For the world of me I just can't remember anything called a "Thunderbolt". Tricked out falcon right? Was it a factory thing, or a dealer mod? Maybe 7 yrs then, just don't remember, must be starting to slip. Wish I, had the space for my own SkyHigh. Looks like a blast! PC

PC, the Thunderbolt, or Tbolt, was a factory built racing version of the '64 Ford Fairlane. It was only issued for that one year, and the car had a 'special lightweight frontend' (read aluminum), a 427 racing engine, 'special' exhaust, lightweight trunk (again, aluminum), and I'm pretty sure the doors were too (altho I may be wrong on that one), and a whole lot of other 'special' options. The racing version was only made so they could sell some as street cars also, as was typical back then. Ford firmly believed the saying "Win on Sunday, sell on Monday!" That car in dragstrip form was a VERY fast car. Some of the famous drag racing cars were: Butch Leal, "The California Flash"; Gas Ronda; Hubert Platt, "The Georgia Shaker"; Bob Tasca (the Tasca that runs funny cars now is either the son or grandson, can't remember which..lol), and a LARGE list of others. Just Google 1964 Thunderbolt, and you should come up with a WHOLE bunch of names and pics. It was used in the SuperStock class specifically. All of this was back when they were referred to as "The Factory Wars", since Chrysler and Chevy were also doing this type of thing, and all the mfrs. were HEAVILY involved in drag racing back then. ALL of them, at one point or another, released 'racing versions' of their cars for the street. Like I said, search it out, you'll be amazed at what comes up! That help ya any, I hope? ;D Ron (Bondo)

Wasn't the Thunderbolt a Galaxy?

Nope, Tbolt was a Hi Perf Fairlane. Just do a search for Thunderbolt. I thnk there were a few Galaxies that raced that had the word "Thunderbolt" on it, possibly a 'sponsor' or something (I do seem to remember seeing pics of one before), but the actual Ford factory released body was originally a Fairlane. Pretty sure they used a Fairlane because the Galaxy was too heavy. Ron (Bondo)

WOW!! Nice collection, where did you get those cool tire decals ? I got them a couple of years ago from ebay. At the time I recall buying a ton from this guy. Something like 50 to 75 at the time for just what he had listed back then. I wanna say Radical decal guy?? Did he pass away? I think I remember reading something somewhere about him. Umm Sam, can I ask how to coat these tires bud?? Dulcoat or something???

Joe, that was Robert Everson, went by the name Radical Decals. He did pass away last year, a few months before my wife did. He did some REAL nice decals too. I had a lot of them but used them all up, never did get any of the tire decals tho. Ron

The guy did great work. Does anyone know that family that might be able to buy the files? I'm sure someone would be willing to carry it on. If anybody else has some good ideas please share. Well dude, what I can do is send you 1 each of the 3 different designs to duplicate?? I have to learn how to make my own decals but for now I am dependent on 2 different sources at the moment. I don't want to overwhelm them. I hate to be a pest to anyone. But I di have some of the Radical sheets around and wouldn't mind lending them to have copies done??
