I know very little about HO cars in general & even less when it comes to HO drag racing. If I wanted to get started, where would I begin? Are the organizations that sanction HO drags at the national or international level? What would I need for equipment & where could I get it?

Hello Bill, Here is some info on tracks, timing systems and organizations. Hope this helps you. What kind of surface do you want to run on? MaxTrax is one of the more popular plastic track types. There are other track builders out there that will custom build you a wood one, or you can do it yourself. Here is a link to MaxTrax. www.maxtraxracing.com/Timing system that is the most popular is made by Track Mate. There are also power supplies here that you can buy. We're using two 12 volt deep cycle batteries for our power. It just depends on what you want to run. www.trackmateracing.com/Here is a link to the most popular HO organization. www.usdra.com/Ask yourself a few questions on track length like, How long of a track do I want or have the space for? Make sure you leave enough room for a shut down area. Our shut down is 6'6", there is no power to this area. This stops most of the cars and for some of the faster ones we have a folded over bath towel to catch the cars about 1' from the end. As far as cars. Any HO car will work. The more popular one's are the pancake style armature cars such as Johnny Lightning & Auto World. BSRT, WIZZARD and Slottech make the best inline armature cars. Take a look at the tech tip section to see how we are making them run a little better. Sam

Let us know if you decide on making a track. It would be cool to watch the progress of it being built.
