Hey guys, up untill "Ninjas" response when he stated no silly foams, I was reading things wrong. Guess I stopped reading as soon as I saw any readily available in rules. Maybe rules need to start with - slip on only - or something to that effect. Could be I'm text challenged, or just the dumb one in the bunch. Took a couple of hours of cusin' and scroungin to straighten things out. Just glad I caught on in time. .............PC

I thought we went throught this. I thought they were not allowed to use silly foams on the NP/S but were allowed on the NF/C. This is what I was to understand? ?

Not really sure who 'screwed up' and where, but if you guys read the thread just above this one titled "Lions NFC and NPS rules" it's in there and has been for a while. Silly foams are allowed on NPS cars, but not NFC's. Granted, the rules for NPS cars are, at least they appear to me anyway, MUCH more confusing. And, in those rules, under the NFC listing, it clearly states "any readily available slip-on silicone tire is allowed, must be no larger than .550 maximum diameter". It does , at least in my 'reading', state that only slip-ons are allowed, and it is under the NFC rules that that is posted. Don't really know why this seems to be so confusing to everybody, but it appears for some reason, a lot of guys are getting 'lost'. (not trying to 'slam' or disrespect any of you guys, so PLEASE don't take it that way) Not really sure how to rectify this, but I think part of the problems we have been having with these proxy racing rules is that guys like Joe also run 'locally', and they use much different rules. Me, I only run the proxy races, since there's no tracks around here, so I can't get confused (or at least I can't get confused with the RACING stuff, lol, I get VERY confused with life in general! LOL). Again, as I said, I am in NO way trying to disrespect ANYONE. Hope you guys understand that, don't wanna make anyone mad at me or anything. Just stating what I see and read. I guess I sort of have an 'advantage' with running NFC's, as I raced in the one we had last year. Alot of the 'newer' guys didn't. So, I'm building my Funny's from those rules. Still haven't built or run an NPS car tho. Don't feel bad guys. I just setup my Matco track for the first time, a couple hours ago, and found out I have to completely rebuild one of my cars. It went about a foot down the track, and all I got was a LARGE puff of smoke! Now it won't even do anything! And I just bought the arm about two months ago, and worked fine on a 9 volt battery. So, out the arm comes and one of my 'backups' will probly go in. Doubt if it's gonna be very quick tho. We shall see if I can get it done. Took me FOREVER to put in the last arm, as I have a 'homemade' gear press, and it don't work all that smooth. And, I think I'm out of 'new' pinions, so it should be interesting to see if I can get it done. Ron (Bondo)

Actually, the rule is slip on silicone tires for both classes. .550" Max on the NF/C and .450" Max on the NP/S. This is the common rear tire rule for NP/S-Ratt Rod. TIRES, REAR: After- market racing tires are permitted. All four Tires must be of sufficient diameter so as to contact track when car is in a normal on –track attitude. (note: front tires need only be close to touching at Meet director’s discretion.) Tires must be black. Coated foam tires are not permitted. Tire must be of rubber, silicone or similar compound commonly used. This is the rear tire rule specifically for NP/S. TIRES: Rear tires may not exceed .450 inches in diameter x .230" width. (Tuff Ones standard size). Aftermarket silicone tires are permitted. Tires may be bonded to wheels. I stand corrected Matt. You, of course, are correct. As I said, the NPS rules are a LOT more confusing than the NFC rules ;D. But, when I re-read the rules, it is very clear. Basically, in all the NTRA proxy classes, there are only two classes (at present) that silly foams are allowed in, Gasser and Doorslammer, correct? (actually Doorslammer isn't yet an official NTRA class, altho I think it should be! Ron (Bondo)

Hey guys - gotta say ya scarred me again there, till I saw Matt's printout. Think I was in same boat as Joe. Sitting here reading N/FC rules Tires/Wheels, yes it says "any readily available slip on silicones; 550" diameter maximum" . Don't know why the first three words just jump out at me, any readiliy available. I can see there is no comma in between that and slip on silicones, but seems like two things to me every time I look at it. Not complaining Ron(I got it now), just think if rules were worded different it might help others. Oh, before I forget Ron, I like those old pinions. Allready broken in. Small dot of solder will usually keep them on. Excess can be taken of with small file. Check em' though, had to re-solder one recently(don't see so good anymore) .....................PC

Matt is correct! No silly foams allowed in either class; NP/S nor NF/C. I don't know where things went terribly wrong. I have perused various post, cannot find anywhere the subject of silicone coated tires coming into question. Rick had pointed out during test & tune that a NP/S car sporting silicone coated tires was out of bounds with NTRA rules and would need to be changed to pass inspection for the actual race. Admittedly, I can see how people new to NTRA may get confused with the somewhat wordy format used in the foundation (or legacy) rules. I sometimes get lost too. This brought about the quick glance chart format, which apparently is not wordy enough. This is where the forum comes in. The forum is for you to ask questions, not only on rules, but anything related to slot cars. When no question comes up on particulars of class rules, the assumption is the rules are understood. I often get PM's starting with 'I don't want to bother you, but . . .'. If you have questions you need to bother someone if you want answers. Besides, everyone here wants to help out, so don't feel it is a bother. Hopefully, everyone is clear on the tire issue. Any other concerns should be brought up now. The race is fast approaching. Ask your questions now. You do not want to send a car that cannot qualify.

When I sent in my 2 NF/C's and 1 NP/S, I had silly foams on my NP/S and was told not to bring them back for the july run. Slip-Ons ONLY!! oops Now the NF/C's I was told slip-on's and silly-foams were ok. Basically cause there isn't a lot of readily available specific tires for this NF/C class. And to get them as close to 550 is a major advantage. 13.8 volts And the beautiful tires Sam posted a picture of with the yellow lettered Good Years, are silly foams. So where am I confused? Ron no offense taken bro. Just trying to figure it all out. Having 2 different groups of races is the way to go. My "Other Cars" are way different!!! This proxy race is in a class all it's own. Especially getting the 4 gear to run at 13.8 volts!!

The silly foams Sam posted in a photo are being used on a Pro Mod (Door Slammer Class). Sam's post was a sharing of ideas to be used as you see fit. However, does not apply for the two NTRA classes running in the next event.

Ok Rick, or Cordell, can you give us a breakdown as to when you will be holding the qualifying sessions and then the finals?
Are there specific times you will be posting? It is a holiday weekend and don't think I will be in front of the desk top all weekend. If I knew when this was going down I can plan my time and be sure not to be anywhere else!!!
Don't want to miss any of the action!!!!
