Sure sam, tracks a mdf 8'8" 1/8th mile with 3'4" of shut down which is shorted for braking, railing is the same railing used on all full tilt raceways (thanks to kevin for the help on that) set up is based on early 60's street racing. has flagger at start which lights up to signal start, finish line has two mini micro switchs set up to relay's which trigger win lights that are installed in two cars sitting on side of track facing the starting line (a 66 nova left lane and 72 chevy truck right lane). which ever car cross's finish line first that car turns on its headlights showing they won (if by chance both cars trip at same time neither light comes on showing it was a tie). track power is a wall wart with 30 volts and 4 amps, also wired to use two 12 car batterys when set up at car shows. track is fast and working on adding timimg with a laptop. every sat nite i set up the track on the front porch and have a freindly race with the local teens with $1 entry, i furnish cars and winner takes all (grudge race's cost them 25 cents a race), we run all x-traction cars heads up and we run best 3 out of 5 just like a pinks race, its hard to get a teen to give you any i mean any length of a head start lol. also working on 1/4th mile track with full tree and timing that will be ready to run on in Dec somtime if we dont run into any drawbacks.

Hi BB, I had put together a portable 1/8th mile track and tried to use a laptop with TrakMate SemiPro. Never could get to load right and Daniel at TrakMate told me they had had that problem before and only a certain few laptops would work with it. I ended up with an Old Dos computer that worked fine until I moved up to the Windows based system. I'm planning on using the SemiPro system on a portable track too. If you figure out how to do it with a lap top let me know as I'd rather not lug around an old tower and monitor either.

Bob, Do you have any pictures of your track? I like how you did the old school drag theme.

Looks great Bob! Is there a way of telling if someone took off before the start light came on?

since its not timed no, most of the guys think there is no power to the track until the light comes on anyway (shhhhhhhhhhh dont tell them its live all the time). if a guy jumps before the light the next race he has to give up a car length remember it's street racing we race best 3 out of 5 but all this will change soon but that's the fun of street racing you never know what to expect. we had a great turn out last nite 11 racers (8 teens,2 women, and 1 old fart me) first timer won the cash, was doing some testing after race with neo magnet car and killed the 66 nova (win light) when car deslotted and hit head on knocking off front of nova busting both headlights. tracks getting faster none of the t-jets will stay in the slot now, quess iam going to have to install wheelie bars lol

Sounds like fun. Hope nobody was injured in the neo accident, lol. That's what happens when kids sneek Dad's muscle car out of the garage and it has too much power. I didn't have to worry about this growing up. My Dad had a pinto!

If you are wanting to keep it simple, couldn't you go with a lower voltage wall wart? 30 volts seems high. I thought they were all 18-22 volt for HO.

they are lol but the wall warts a old one from a hp printer i picked up at the flea market for a buck. 30 volts but only 4 amps (i use a 14 volt tyco wall wart for the lighting), when the wal wart is not used and track is hooked to the 2, 12 volt batterys i got 26.8 volts but have unlimited amp supply (1300 cold cranking amps) lol BRING ON THE NEO's you guys got me foaming at the mouth about the timing set ups, iam working on one for track now i got a freind who has a degree in electric enginering he told me he could build a timing system. getting the time for him to do it is whats holding everything up right now. also told him about problem with the lap tops last nite. he told me no problem, he was going to design a program from ground up, just for me to let him know what i wanted it to do, so i will keep you posted on that.

Got a update! took my track to a freinds house and after seeing and playing on it he wants to build one only 1/4 mile, well that was 3 weeks ago. NOW (we having been working our butts off!) we have a 4 lane road cousre on a 8X8 table that can be changed over to a sort of a square oval lol! we also have the dragstrip allmost done too, got the timing system just waiting on the sensors which was ordered last nite. as soon as everythings done i will get some pics up, by the way whats a good run on a 1/4 with a stock t-jet? keep you guys posted
