Few questions
What paint did you use for the surface?
How do the cars hook up?
What rail did you use?
Just curious. We were going to redo our track this month but are waiting until the points series is over with. Thanks!

No paint sam, its mdf double sided board gray on one side and black on other 1/4 inch thick sittting on a 1x2 frame 24 feet with 17'6 " of timmed track 6' of shut down with shorted rail at end, strips are pinstriping tape cut to size with smaller tape for out line, railing is electric fish tape they use to fish wires thru wall,s and ceilings when you rewire a house. its 1/16th wide and 1/8 thick will cost you about 24 bucks for 200 foot roll (steel rail not the gavinized stuff), after routing just drive wire down in groove, if you have problem with coming up just tap down with rubber hammer if you plan on running neo mag or cobalt mag cars i recomend gluing in slot with gorilla glue with only about 5 thousands sticking up. cars hook great found a lil secert out! clean the track good with a mild spray cleaner and wipe dry before race, then take a mild cleaner like a 409 cleaner and spray a lil on a rag ,clean your tires with that, but dont wipe dry or rinse off let air dry, they become real sticky, think about it rememmber the silcon wall walker toys kids would throw on walls and they would walk down the wall! your silicon tires are made of same thing just a lil harder. after cleaning tire like this we are haveing trouble with g plus cars doing wheelies! in the pics we only had the left lane railed now its all railed and side boards back on the left side too. NOW I GOT A QUESTION FOR YOU. lol whats the best place to mount the sensors on the starting line? between rail and guide slot or outside of railing? sam i got a 4 inch by 2 inch peice of the board used i can route it and make you a sample just to show you and maybe if you like it take it to a supply co. for counter top mfg and match it up. the one here local has it for 20 bucks a sheet one sheet does a 24 foot track with 10 inch wide track and enough left over to do the side rails at 2 3/4 tall which we turned over to show gray side so painting is limited to just the edges. takes 9 1x2's to do the frame. then were each section butts together drill 4 holes hole about 1/4 inch and use 1/8 inch wood screws to pull together, the bigger 1/4 inch hole will give you room to move the sections and line it up perfect.

Thanks Bob, Put the sensors between the rail and slot. Our set ups are similar. We have 3/4" MDF using 16 gauge rebar wire for rail. Chuck and David made the frame out of 2x4's and did the routing. The MDF already had a white finish on it. We've been using windex to clean. My wife Kim and I striped it by taping it all off and and hand painted using enamel. This was our first attempt at a wood track. It works fine but like Chuck says, I'm like a women and have to change everything after it's done. I call them improvements . Were going to make our timed section longer, lower the rails and go with a thinned down floor enamel sprayed on by an automotive finisher. Like you probably noticed, building these type of tracks are very cheap if you have the time and tools. I still have a few months to take a look at different set ups, doesn't really matter. I'll probably want something a little different after the new one is made, right Chuck! ;D I would like to see a sample of your track Bob. I'll send you an email. Thanks! Sam

Bluegrass Motorplex... Lexington, Ky area? Nice looking track. Like to have you list it on HODragRaceRegistry.com if your interested. What are you using for a timing system?

Its's just out of lexington, ky by about 5 miles south on us 27, its located belive it or not on the old Blue grass dragstrip thats now a industrial park lol. timimg is a track mate basic drag we picked up for 60 bucks including a lap top and program for the 4 lane road course too. but had one sensor missing so we ordered all new ones for the drag track and new set up for the roundy round, they should be here any day. we got a lot of stuff on e-bay now trying to come up with the cash for better timing system like the pro 2000, we didnt think the track would turn out like it did! we are real pleased so we are going to put a nicer timing system on it. but going to run this one for the time being. we got just a few more things to do, like the bottom cover to hide the supports, going to do it in checkered flag pattern and the catch box at the end. (just in case they dont stop) when i started this with the smaller 1/8 mile portable track i never dreamed it would get this big this quick! now if the racers would show up like that it would tickle me to death lol.

Very cool. What are the chances that your track is on the Blue Grass Drag Strip! You get the word out and I don't think you will have any problem getting racers. A lot of HO drag racers are or were 1:1 racers. kdog on this website is one. Check out this site, drlockinbox.50megs.com/ and the drag racing article on it for more. I had the opportunity to talk to Bret about 3 weeks ago and his biggest problem with the track was parking for real cars outside his house!
