Hey guys. I have a Super 3 chasis here, complete and brand new. Figured I might as well mount a body on it. What I wanna know is are there hotter arms or anything like that specifically for this chassis? Or, do I just need to use arms for others, like Tyco's, and see if they work? Was told these have better magnets in them than most inlines, but that they do have probs getting hot, and a lot of them 'burn up', but I figure since drag racing doesn't last for very long per run, overheating should not be a problem...lol. If there's no parts available, it will probly just become a bracket car anyway, but would really like to modify SOMETHING on it, other than just using one of Sam's first castings he did (Mustang). It does LOOK good anyway! Any help? Ron (Bondo)

The braids are need because there are no replacement parts for Super III's. Also you mite need really tall rear tires. The traction magnets are super strong. I put a set of AFX dragster rims and tires on mine.

Hey bondo,
the first thing that you need to do to the AW super 3 is change the gear ratio. The following times are run on 13.8v with a stock chassis (except gears). The 7/25 is the stock ratio
7/25- 1.019 @ 14.38 7/22- .938 @ 17.5 7/20- .864 @ 19.571 7/18- .860 @ 21.875
the stock rear tires are about .500 tall and they are made of pretty good rubber/silicone. The times above were all run with them. If you try to run with shorter tires the chassis will drag on the track.

Thanks guys. Matt, where would I find an 18t gear? I have found the 20's all over, but no 18's. Are they for another mfr's car, or 'special order', or what? If I have to, the 20 will still be way better than what's stock, but an 18 would be a LOT nicer! Ron (Bondo)

I have a couple left over from my oval and road racing days (10-12 years ago). Now an 8/20 will get you close to the same ratio. I just didn't want to change the pinion on the test car.

I know this is a relatively old thread and the Super III is not really a popular platform by todays standards, but while I was hunting down some Super III threaded brush tubes (as they are adjustable and can be adapted to AFX's Mega G to dial in the brush spring tension when running custom armatures), I found a seller that has a complete inventory listed for original Super III parts - JAGHOBBIES.COM www.jaghobbies.com/ho_slot_cars/parts_superiii.htmCompared to stock arms from other manufacturers, I found that the unit from the Super III is strong and reliable, I've even used them in other cars like an old school G-Plus. The brush tubes are great for the Mega G conversion mentioned above.
