HO Drag track in south Denver (Parker actually).
Portable track info: 2 - 8' long plywood boards hinged in the middle.
Rail width (this means the metal rail itself) - .016"
Rail height from the track - .016"-.017"
Distance between the rails (center to center) - .589"
Guide pin depth (measured from the surface of the track) - .154"
It's standard O gauge Aurora track that is being used. Replica of Tim Ranch's No-Co Drag-O-Rama track. Start to finish line distance: - 11' 7" (which replicates the 1000' line for 1/87th scale)
Also with a recommendation from Walt Pierce the portable track will also be setup to run these distances for races:
1000' for 1/76nd scale
1/8 mile for 1/76th scale
Walt did the computations for distances (I'd have to remove my shoes to work with those kinds of numbers...) So it will have the capability to run races at 3 different scale distances. Thanks for the idea Walt!
Power supply: HP adjustable DC output - it will be set to 13.8 volts.
Timing System: TrackMate start/finish line sensors.
The Super Stock race will be run on this track.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
As for the permanent track Mopar Mountain mounted on the wall: All other races will be held on this track. Specs are:
Start to finish line distance: 20' 7.5" (HODRA spec)
Rail width (this means the metal rail itself) - .0125"
Rail height from the track - .015"
Distance between the rails (center to center) - .5645"
Guide pin depth (measured from the surface of the track) - .206"
24 Volt DC power supply with tons of amps (Thanks to FRHO member Geoff Campbell for tweaking this unit for me.)
Continuous rail with 4 power taps along the way.
Shutdown area: 12' long with 1/4" barstock in place of power rails to attract the traction magnets to help the car slow down. It that doesn't help then there is a catch towel and a foam block at the end of the track.
Timing system: TrackMate Drag Pro 3000
During the first scale 60' section it is double railed to provide more downforce to the cars at the launch then single railed the rest of the track to allow cars to build top end speed. The rail stops 4" past the finish line.
Win lights are also mounted at the finishing line.
