It happens, I was using a good brush. I was running 26 Volts when mine blew. The softer brush works fine for me on slow motors. Just takes a little carbon build up to short the two comm plates and no more motor.

Good info. guys. I'm building my first unlimited 4gear with limited parts supplies so if problems like that can be avoided, that's a good thing for me. So far I haven't seen any issues with my armature. Seems to be cool and fast ;D.
