Jason, did you look in the tech section (I think that's where it's at) on here about how to make wheelie bars? It's actually pretty easy if you got a soldering iron, some thin flat brass, some brass rod, a small drill bit, and some seed beads. Some epoxy or JB Weld helps too. If there was enuff time, I'd make ya a set or two and send 'em, but don't think there'd be enuff time to get them to ya and still make the race. Let me know if ya can't find it on here, I'll put in the link for ya. Ron (Bondo)

That's the route I'm going to go. I've got the day off tomorrow from work so after I get the yard work done, I've got the rest of the day to build the bars and get the car tuned up. Thankfully I'm pretty handy with a soldiering iron after scratch building 1/24 drag cars for years. What I was originally going for was a actual functioning setup with wheels that rolled. I was gonna cut down a set from one of those finger skateboards from walmart. I haven't abandoned the idea entirely, just for this race.
BTW the first pass was successful, but it spun the tires hard. I guess I'm gonna have to stop by radio shack or northern tool tomorrow to get a magnet since I built a non mag car.

Yep, GOTTA have the trac mags . The definitely help (or at least one anyway). I actually did build one set of bars that rolled, was the first set I built. And that was with the seed beads too! What a PIA! But, I soon found out that the 'minimal' amount of contact involved, makes rolling wheels unnecessary. A lot of us here all came from 1/24 drags. Actually, way (? lol) back in the '80's, I ran the USRA 'road course' tracks in the midwest. Ran all over, Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Indiana, Iowa..and a few more. I finished 5th in "Novice" class in my first year. Next year I moved into Box 15 class, but soon found out it was WAYYY too expensive to keep it up. Being as 'competetive' as I am, I was building a BRAND new car EVERY race just to keep an 'edge' on everybody. Plus, my nerves were SHOT. So, I just decided I needed to quit. And, at the time, I was running 2nd in points. And I am SO happy I got out of that mess! LOL! Didn't even look at another slot car til around '89 or so, then I found drag slots. Instantly fell in LOVE with it. And, it was a LOT less stress, and easier on the pocketbook as well..lol. I found HO drags about 2007, when I saw some of Sam's cars on Ebay. By then, I really didn't have the money, or a track near here to race at, so I started looking for other 'alternatives'. Then I found this site. And the rest, as they say, is 'history' ;D Ron (Bondo)

I should have mine in the mail wednesday or thursday. It had me scratching my head for a while there one friday. I finally figured out that my wheelie bars were set too low and was unloading the rear tires a little. It was fun to watch cause you never knew which way it would go. For about an hour it would make 1 out of 7 passes cleanly. It took me so long to diagnose the problem because I was thinking I had a wheel slipping on the axle.

All tuned up and ready to hit the mail!!!! Thank you for putting in the time to host this event!!!! It was a fun build and I cant wait to get started on the next one! ;D Nothing fancy here, started with a stock johnny lightning 500 car. Added an old arm that I bought off ebay years ago that metered 6.1 ohms all the way around on my cheap meter. Found a set of poly mags at my local hobby shop when I was buying the steel and brass for the wheelie bars. Soldiered on some braids from an old 1/32 fly Porsche LMP car and glued on a dot magnet from northern tool. All in all I'm very happy with my first build. To the eye its the fastest pancake I currently own and may be right on par with some of my older inline motored cars. Good luck everybody!!! I cant wait to see what everybody else came up with!

Ok, in light of several queries, if your car makes it here by the 26th, you will get a calibrated timed pass. I will take the average of 3 ( three ) passes. If your car shows up in the mail the 26th, I will make sure it gets it's turn for an e.t.! Even if it takes me into the 27th. If a car shows up on the 28th, it will get it's turn too......nothin' past the 29th!! Just wanna be fair. If cars go out this weekend, they should all be here in time. AND, I will give reports during the course of the run off!! Thanks for the support guys, this should be fun!!

Thanks, Jim. That does help clear it up. Wasn't exactly sure what you meant in an earlier post about 'run off', seeing as how I been following this thread on both boards. . But, now I understand completely! ;D Ron (Bondo)

Ok, since you've guys announced that packages have shipped, I will wait until ALL cars are received.....even if it takes until past the 29th! If packages are postmarked by the 25th........they will all get their turn!! So, that gives you guys some more time! It's like I'm goin' anywhere!! Jim Sgrig
