Has any one used the Jel Claw tires? Are they silicone? Would like some feed back on them. Thanks, Marc

Hi Mark,
I just bought some a few weeks ago and I have used them on my stock stuff, they work well. I did try to true them using a Dremel Tool and nail file and 3 out of 6 sets didn't true up very good i.e. holes and rips in the tire. I was trying to make them a smaller diameter so I did take off more silicon then just a light truing. They advertise the tires as a silicon rubber mix but they feel just like silicone. The guys here on the post recommended Tuff Ones and I do like those tires better. I hope this helps.
Steve

Just about all silicone tires (regardless of brand) attract and retain dust & dirt. Frequent cleaning is a must. You may want to try switching to urethane for better traction and less maintenance. Urethane is extremely popular in large scales and is now available for HO from: www.slotcarexpress.com/Products.html

I have used Jel Claws but dont prefer them. I prefer the white skinny boots if i'm using skinny tires. If I need black skinnies, I use the ones that look like stock Aurora wioth the ribs one 1 side. They dont have the ribs on both sides.
As far as getting dirty, I have a 4 x 16 wizzard. I used to clean it with pledge or simple green and yes, my tires got dirty a lot.
Now, I had an issue with a bad connection and found out from hilltop that I should have been using WD-40 on my track. Hmm, I thought to myself, nah can't be. But boy oh boy I couldn't have been more wrong.
Since doing my whole layout with WD-40, not only has my connectivity issue cleared up but MY TIRES DONT GET DIRTY ANYMORE!!!! I can't explain it and thought maybe I was imaging this. But my friend has a 4 x 16 older routed Wizzard and he has come across the same thing!!! Tires stay clean for 100 laps at least. Not sure why but this is the truth.
So I also run black PVT's on tuffy size stuff, and they too run clean, and amazing for many many laps!!!

Gel Claws are a really soft tire, they don't take well to trueing, if you do true them it has to be lightly at a low speed and they need to be glued to the rim, they grow in size easily. The other thing is they will pick every piece of dust on the track and hold it. I'm going to try the urethanes and see how they do. I know the guys run them in the bigger scales and they true up pretty easily.

Thanks for the input guys. I've been using the stock looking slicks. They work good, looking for some taller tires to try. I'll try the urethane too.
