Question. What class did the cars like Grumpy's Toy, The Gee T O Tiger ,Komotin Vette,Red Alert Chevelle, Da Judge GTO run in? Ok I was just out of diapers at this time.

Pretty sure it would have been Super Stock (S/S), altho Grumpy did move into Pro Stock once that class was established. A lot of the S/S guys went into Pro Stock. The S/S class covered a pretty wide variety of class designations, such as SS/A, or SS/D, you get the idea. The classes depended on engine size, stick or auto trans, and a few other differences (Automatics would have been designated with an "A" after the letters, like SS/DA). And, they were run as an 'index' class with handicap starts. Altho, for the 'big' shows, most of the 'big names' were all run heads up, with the same index.  Ron (Bondo)  |
