I have a Tuff ones armature in a second generation non-mag chassis. The second gen has the screw for the gear plate but is non-magnitraction. The arm, arm gear and brush tabs get super hot after about 45 seconds running at 12vdc. Any suggestions on why and how to cure. Bob

Bob, are you referring to a 4 gear chassis?

because I can't find any AFX chassis that have a screw for the gear plate.

I'd pull the mags and brushes out, put the gear plate on and check to see if it is binding somplace. Also I've found that it's real easy to over tighten that back screw and put the chassis in a bind.

Arm overheating right away something is binding. If this is in a 4g like "draglstyltskn" asked, I just recently put a TO arm in one. Had to create a little space between gear plate and chassis floor to fit TO arm. Ifound easiest way was to use small round dremel bit and spin by hand on top of arm shaft hole in chassis floor. Created a small cuping between brush pockets. Carefull though only afew spins of bit at a time and check for fit. ..........PC

Not enough amperage with 12v will cause overheating as well, along with the binding!
