I know this is kinda early, but after reading over discussion about X-traction street class and others having propossed classes before now. Maybe we need to hash out some things as soon as possible so all points are covered before next season starts.
When I first joined Nitroslots, all the NTRA classes were t-jet types with D/S and MM/PS as possible new classes. Thought that primary focus was on t-jet types. This year three new classes and the D/S's were added to NTRA classes. Four in total, 4g classes were added. And I believe also the MM/PS was added to the NTRA. Three of the four 4g classes are what might be called performance enhanced classes. Two with poly mags, three with 5 ohm mins.
Has anyone thought of evening things out between the t-jet types and 4g's as far as mods allowed. Perfomance wise the 4g's have now taken the lead. Three classes with 5 ohm'ers as to the t-jets one. Two classes with polys as to the t-jets one ( or basically none, seems nobody wants to run P/M's - maybe the 3 ohm thing scares people off. I was thinking if the t-jet gassers were made polys and the M/S were made 5 ohms then we would have two (or three depending on how you look at M/S) jet classes with 5 ohm'ers and one with poly mags. This while still maintaining the stock and super stock classes would put things on a more even keel between the two different type chassis as far as performance goes.
Thought if we went over any propossed changes that might be in NTRA racers minds now it would help out "Ninjatek" when it comes to putting things into words for us. That is class rules could be formulated before the next season and things; for example min. weights ( only thing that comes to mind right now ), would be know to all well ahead of time. So PLEASE chime in on this with any thoughts on the matter.
The other thing that keeps sticking in my mind is the thought that keeping things stock (saw it in the x-traction discussion and else where), make things even as far as competition goes. And thus make it easier for newbies to enter and be competitive. I don't know the answer, or if there even is one. But we all know that two people could buy cars and have opposite ends of the performence spectrum even thought the cars purchassed were the same type. Seems to me that with these minimum build types, whomever has a stock pile of magnets and parts is at a deffinate advantage in terms of tunning their car. If one wants to be competitive in the minimum build types and doesn't get lucky when purchasing car, then what's next ? Buying more cars or parts. This is not by any means in keeping the cost down. I think the times (E.T.'s) from past races point this out. The stock classes we run have the greatest difference in times. The past D/S race I think was the best competion wise that I've seen. At the same meet stock jets were run, and the spread of E.T.,s does not indicate a competitive field. Don't remember exact time's for last race, but do remember race at end of last season and afew cars having E.T.'s less than half of others. Like I said, don't know if ther even is an answer to this. Nor do I have a clue as to how this can be fixed to actually have minimum builds be a true competitive field.
Any ways .......... Food for thought ! Help me out here guys.
