I have this type of slot dragon system with the Bondo sensors. It works great, 90 percent of my cars are T Jets and AFX. I run all HO's with this system. The only downfall is that it does not have Miles per hour, or bracket racing. But you get your reaction and estimated time. It also gives you hole shot time. It starts when cars pass the sensors not on its own. Sensors are very sensitive but you can adjust it. The sensors pick up the rails dragsters twice, so what I do is stage from the rear. It depends on how you set the lighting. In the long run, the system is great. My family and I have a great time, we had about 40 cars running in the category of .8 and above. I had a problem with one of the min/micro potentiometers that adjust the optical and it actually came apart. my questions to Daniel were answered quickly and an entire replacement optical sensor array was shipped to me free.
I echo what cruz has said and I am increasingly pleased with my system, so much so that I ordered a second one that arrived this week.
for home use and entry level competition, I think this device is exactly what many of us have been seeking for a long, long time. and best part is, you can take the second sensor off and put it on a two lane road course and it will count down from what ever lap number you choose (up to 99) giving you an ET for each lap.
I know of no other slot car timing system that offers use as a drag system and a road race system at any price.
I am happy with mine and will gladly answer any questions i am qualified to handle.
I recommend the Slot Dragon system and Daniel.

I will be ordering this system one day this week. Could someone give me the measurements of the display box and does the wiring plug into the back of the box or the underside of the display box? I am planning to mount the display box on a shelf!

9 inches tall, 6 inches wide, 4 inches deep(front to back). wires plug into bottom left front.

Thank you Al. Should have explained myself a bit better. I'm planning on mounting the display box without the stand on a shelf above my track. I need the outside dimensions of the display box so I can fit it snug where I intend it to go. The website says 5"x 2" display? Is it 6"x 4"x 2"? I need to be accurate!

Hi, Was hoping someone could help me get my track up and running. I have the Slotdragon setup and everything seems to be working fine but the tree. I have fiddle with jiggling wires and covering the stage sensors in the start line were the only way I was able to get it to work....twice- but that was short lived as I tried to move the wires around out of the way,it had quit again.
Please help the fustrated drag racer sitting at home all alone with no tree. Thanks V

Hey Vince, sorry I didn't email you back yet. I haven't forgotten, just in the process of packing to move. What a mess!!! :/ Anyway, you might try emailing Daniel at SlotDragon. I always got an answer within a day or so when I contacted him. Altho I haven't used my setup yet, I do have everything ready to go when I get moved, provided I can find room for it! Usually the biggest probs are the lighting for the sensors. Some guys have had to add more light, or remove light, right above the sensors at the start line. Doesn't sound like the probs you're having, but as I said, not real sure since mine is still in the boxes. Hopefully someone else will chime in here with a fix.  Ron (Bondo) |

an update from Daniel of Slot Dragon. This should interest those looking for an affordable timing system. "We have just added two new features to our original flag ship system: Negative Reaction Times in the event of a red light and a .8 to 1.3 random variable delay on the Stage Lights (exactly as in NHRA). It was in the past a fixed set time of .4 seconds which was pretty fast."

I received my slot dragon system recently and I am very pleased with it. I had a lot of contact with Daniel and I was very pleased with his attitude. I was influential in requesting him to change his system to the NHRA standard random delay. I raced full size cars when the starter controlled the start and that was annoying at times as some of those idiots would wait 3-4 seconds before engaging the tree. Imagine your high dollar engine sitting there against the brake or rev limiter with the engine screaming at 5000-6000 rpm. I waited for Daniels newer system before I purchased mine. I have many years of full size car racing experience with some very fast cars. If anyone is looking for a reasonably priced system that works well slot dragon is it. Here is a recent close race:  |

Hi, thanks for the welcome.
I mentioned that I have lots of experience with full size car drag racing but none in HO scale outside of my home track.
What is proxy racing?
I live in the great state of Tennessee, Knoxville to be exact. Is there any racing near here?
I used to live in Fl. not to far from Hudson in Wesley Chapel.
I was looking over some of the rules and I notice modifications are limited as they should be in some classes. I did not see any classes for inline motors such as G plus and the like but I could have missed them. I have about 100 different cars and they all seem to run slightly different. Still have had some close racing at times and even a dead heat despite timing all the way to a thousandth with this system. I enjoy modifying the cars since I am an old hot rodder I can't keep from modifying everything. My current track is 14' long which I am extending to 15.1 so it is a scale HO 1/4 mile even though most of the cars are actually 1/64th scale. Here is my quickest time so far:

I'll try to explain proxy racing here...... someone else might do it better.......... The way I look at it is this - I get to race my cars, with no place close enough to do so. Everybody mails cars to pre-determind locations, schedules for races are made up for each year. We race across the country from the Pacific to Atlantic. Right now cars are headed to New Zealand for an event at Voltage Valley. Next race you'd be able to make would be in July. Black Top Raceway, in TX. One of the classes being run is MM/PS (mountain motor/pro stock). Inline class made for the G-G3 platform........ not literally but it is the chassis of choice.
A 7.- dollar entry fee cover 4 cars and is used to return your cars via priority mail...... OUR SPONSORS ARE GREAT ! Everybody gets goodies shipped home with their cars.......... quite often far exceding in value any shipping cost incurred.
If you look at top of home page and click on Voltage Valley logo. You will see how it works......... all you do is ask for entry numbers to sign up........ get your cars to the race........... and your a member ot the NTRA - NATIONAL THUNDER ROD ASSOCIATION.
Hope this helps....... finding things can get confusing....... any questions just ask....... everybody is helpfull......... and a great bunch to race with, always fun events......... Events are covered here as they happen....... color commentary, pics, videos so forth.

Welcome dave632, yes it is a Super G+ style chassis. The BSRT G3 can be purchased direct form Scale Auto. Their link is at the bottom of the Nitroslots home page.
