Mine is getting ready to head out. Not sure how it will run. I made up some resin cast of motor magnets, drilled holes in them and added 4 of the rare earth magnets (quad set up) you buy from radio shack. The car has no track time so we'll see if I blow up before Ron does Cool concept! Kind of the magnetic equivalent of a dual spark ignition system. If it works well, magnet position can be shifted and used as an alternative method to adjust timing. With all the talk of fireworks maybe we should have held this race on July 4th.

I'll cast them pre drilled if its something we can work with. My original design (in my head) was to be able to push the magnet in from the back side and leave the front mostly enclosed, just enough so the magnet can't slide all the way through. I was thinking this might be a cool tuning aid for taking some magnet strength out by adding plastic spacers before inserting the magnets. I bench tested with the polymers but they seemed like too much for this car. We'll see how it works this weekend.

Thats thinking out side the box! I'm anxious to see how well it works.

Sam, did you take any magnetic measurements, comparisons between ceramic, polymers and your setup?

Sam, your magnet setup has officially qualified you for Mad Scientist status! Great idea, whether or not it actually works. Now get back to the basement laboratory, I can't wait to see what's next!
Thanks! Rick V.

Thanks guys, we'll see how they work. Sam, did you take any magnetic measurements, comparisons between ceramic, polymers and your setup? I don't have a gauss meter. The negative pull on a scale really doesn't show much with these magnets compared to ceramic or polymer since the magnets are in a concave setting. Thanks Rick, I'll take that name Everything went out today, suppose to be there by noon on Friday. A couple of Dodge bracket cars (all their good for ) , FED and these prizes.

Good Luck with your event, I think with the mix of the races you have laid out, gives the best chance for everyone to have a shot at bringing home a winner.
For the first time the club here in St Louis, and the new club I am hoping to get off the ground will offer both Heads up, and the Bracket Racing we have always had, (and maybe were stuck on)
Attendance has been off for a bit and hoping to breath some life back into the program.
Anyways I like your forward thinking.

Good luck with the new club Dog. I wish I was closer, sounds like a good time.
I keep coming back and looking at those "magnets'" of Sam's. I agree with Ninja on being able to move the magnet to adjust the timing. Funny thing is, when I was at the LHS last weekend I was looking around and I spotted a plastic container that looked to have about 20 or 30magnets, maybe more, in it about that size for $13 or $14. I'll have to go back to find out what kind they were.
Blacktop Raceway should be getting busy today and tomorrow with the rest of the cars rolling in. It's great to see the new season starting off with a bang. (From the sounds of it, with these front engined dragsters, there be a lot of it. Mine included!) Maybe this race should've been called the Up in Smoke Nationals.

Due to time constraints and parts flying off into the carpet never to be seen again I will only have one stock and one bracket car. Going into the mail today.

Thanks Keith Hope you are doing well and we'll see you at the next race. I am sure there are plenty of vacuum bags in land fills across the country holding a hoard of brushes and springs. Glad you were able to hang to enough parts to still send in some cars.
