I posted a NitroAmerica Youtube link recently that had the Fuel Altereds racing. Waaaaaaaaaaay cool race cars. Dave Very cool video Les just keeps getting better with his videos. The March Meet was a trial for the AA/FA's. There isn't enough late model Fuel Altereds to run a 8 car show or the same with the older ones Pure Hell, Rat Trap, Mike Sullivan, Pure Heaven and so on so they put a 6 second index on a 8 car open show and it seemed to work out pretty nice. Keeps the cost down too. Quicker than 6 seconds the extra safety stuff gets really out of hand. The late model cars like the Witch Doctor can run 5.50's at 270 mph so they have to de tune them. I think the old style ended up wining the thing. Rick

Went to the outlaw fuel altered nationals yesterday here in Iowa at Eddyville Raceway along with gassers. Best darn show since I have been going to them. Came home late last night, had a rain delay in qualifying. Best Q.T. was 4.02 at 184 m.h. and this is an eighth mile track. Unfortunately I have never had the pleasure of seeing any of those type cars or Pro Mods run in person. Just never had the opportunity to when they were close. Only on video or TV. They had a Pro Mod event scheduled for Nov last year at Texas Motorplex but it got cancelled. Maybe this year. You guys are making me drool.

The altereds are my favorite too, I think it's because they are so unpredictable with the short wheel base. NHRA has become a little boring. I would love to take a trip down a track in one. I am real envious of Rick for getting to do that.

NitroVikings Dodge. Hey Dave you guys have a great looking group of cars there. Really starting to get pumped up for this race. Several dynamics are surrounding the race. I will be doing a little research and posting this evening on some of these things. Thanks for sharing the pics. Season Points have been updated as of the Summer Nationals.

Yep it was fun, except for waiting in the trailer all day. Rain held everyone up til 6 Saturday night. Sunday waz a whole different story! Wheel stand at the starting line, the 60 ft, the 330, a couple carried them almost all the way! Typical Fuel Altereds, every which way but straight. The best time was a 3.84 and top speed was 198, considering the air and the new surface, they weren't that far off. They're my favorites too, ever since I got to help out the MOB when I lived out west. Tom you went too. "THE MOB" was legendary. A guy in Northern California owns the last MOB car. The black one I think it was a couple of cars after the one you helped on. My brother got to make a couple squirts (1/2 passes) in it last year. Larry the owner has a driver for it now and is going to try and run it at the California Hot Rod Reunion in October. Rick Yeah I was there. It was a last minute thing. I was helping my old racing partner run his altered in the bracket classes. We didn't have much luck, lost the first round Saturday night. Then Sunday he entered two classes, Mod and Nostalgia. Lost the first round in Mod, got to the second round in Nostalgia and raced the same guy we lost to in Mod, he dialed almost a tenth slower this time, ( He ran dead on in Mod when he beat us), we lost with a .026 light and 5.79 on a 5.78 dial, his light was an .03 something. Oh whell thats racing. BUT HEY! I was the only guy wearing a Night Fire Nationals shirt! Thanks Rick !!!!!! By the way there were 18 cars trying for 16 spots plus anouther one that could have probably run but wasn't certified for that fast so he was running brackets.

Jeff if you have the chance to see the Pro Mod's run GO! They are just Baad ! Tom sounds like you were busy helping your buddy it makes going to the races a little less boring. Glade you liked the T shirt. Dennis the open front engines cars are the most exciting. Blower Explosions and Oil Downs (broke a intake valve on this one) Burnt some pistons (all 8 I think we burnt some we had in the trailer too) caused the oil tank for the dry sump to come apart. 5 gallons of oil. Blinded at about 240 MPH About at the 1200 foot mark I thought it was a basic oil down hit the chutes and went for the brake not knowing that much oil was coming out. In the left lane it made a hard left turn. Hanging on at this point chutes already pulled you can see the pilot chutes just coming out. Some where between this point and the chutes blossoming I tried wiping my visor but the oil was so thick and gooey my gloove stuck. Thanks to the chutes and a lot of luck we won that round changed motors welded up the oil tank and made the next round and lost.

Rick, the pictures are way cool although you probably did not think so at the time. Wow you had your hands full. I just noticed the injector butterflies are still wide open in the first picture.
.......Thanks for the pictures, Dennis

Rick the pictures are great. I wish I could get to one of those events. As far as any Pro Mod events goes...if they get close I'm there for sure. Texas Motorplex is home track here, but they haven't been there for awhile. Thanks for posting.

Been trying to get F.E.D.'s finished up. I have one that is together, just needs some fine tuning on the track. Just finished up gear plate on the 2nd one. Should have it together tomorrow sometime. This should take care of gear problems. Then I will move the Top Fuel to the desk. Anybody else doing anything special with their F.E.D.?

F.E.D.'s ready for tuning. One on left side is running Tjetsgrigs power and the one on the right is running EagleRacing power. No slop in the gears on these. They need some track time now.

Starting to get race arrivals now. All cars are ready except my Grape Ape N/TF. I keep breaking bond on rear wheels and now the crown gear (it was JB Welded to the axle??). I will redo everything in the morning and try again. Not sure if it's going to be enough to take down that guy from Colorado.
