I finally got around to finishing the '62 Biscayne Wagon. Life and racing seem to keep getting in the way. This is a 660slots.com drag resin. I've been having a little trouble with my lacquer clear coats for some reason recently, they are staying tacky?? I went back to an acrylic clear for this one.....all other paint is lacquer. Found out how to make my own acrylic thinner utilizing a flow improver. It has made a world of difference in the flow characteristics of all the acrylics I use. The acrylic clear is a little thinner than I like though. My plan is to move to a two part automotive clear in the near future like the top customizers are using.
Doing two builds for an Illinois racer next. A Hairy Canary Pro Mod '55 Chevy and a Superjet '85 Monte Carlo SS Pro Mod. These will be built to the racers specifications.

Love it!!! I have a soft spot for Wagons! Looking forward to seeing the other projects. I'm always nervous when it comes to the clear coat stage. I've had some disasters!!

Starting early to get some things ready here at Bear Creek for the June event. I purchased a Trackmate DP3000HO back in Dec, but have been waiting for the racing to slow down before tearing into the track. Broke everything down yesterday and cut the additional 4 holes in the table for access to the sensors that will be added. Then put the track back together and drilled holes for prestage, 60', 330', 660', and speed trap. I'm not sure if I will have the 330' or not, but the holes are there just in case. Ready for timing system to be installed now. Overhead sensor lighting will be needed as well and that has already been purchased. I will need to attach them to my existing fluorescent fixtures and tie into the 120v there. Hard part is already done. Also rewiring the track with some new wire and an added 30vdc 10a power supply. Each lane will now have it's own supply. Should be back up and running by the end of next week. I am excited to say the least. First event to run on the new setup will be the Ultimate Team Challenge. Starting line colors will also be changing for this event.

I am sure you will enjoy your new setup. It will also help your tuning with all the incremental times.

Well......the new timing system and power supplies are wired in and functional. I fired everything off tonight and made some test passes. No issues what so ever....none!! All that is left now is just the track visual stuff. Only a few things have changed there. Decided to keep same colors for awhile longer. I'm stoked to say the least! Bear Creek Dragway is almost ready once again. I will get more acquainted with the new system when I start testing for the upcoming race. Which will be soon.

New project in the garage that I've been working on between track upgrade and home stuff. It's a Hooters Camaro twin turbo Pro Mod. I had a little issue with the last coat of clear so I need to do some color sanding and reshoot with a couple of more coats before adding chute cords. Also working on a '55 Chevy nitrous Pro Mod. Both of these are Hairy Canary bodies which are like gold these days. These cars will be headed to Waukegan, Illinois with custom tuned chassis underneath when completed.

Great to hear the system is up and running with no quirks. I sure had em. I think the old desktop computer I used is just not up to running the system properly. Still gives me trouble when loading with run time errors and other occasional quirks???

Thanks Dave! I really appreciate the positive input throughout this project. The computer I am using is nothing special, but is still a bit overkill for the timing system. It's the one I've been using for the hobby over the last several years. I just upgraded to a newer one running Windows 10. I want to play with it more but it will have to wait a few more days. Ended up using the puck lights for the added sensors and they worked out great. I mounted them to my existing overhead fluorescent fixtures.

I know you told me in the past but where did you get those infrared lights you showed me. I would like to try some.
