That green and blue Mustang is looking pretty mean. Thanks Paul! Gotta love them Mustangs (Fords) ! That one is a 660slots casting and has a new home in Arizona now. Finished car was posted below those pics.

I have finished the first Vega GT custom. Tried a new color that I actually thought was going to be more charcoal, but came out purple / dark maroon. This one is just a street car that will stay in the AJR garage.

Don't think I'd want to pull up next to it at a red light, well maybe just to listen to it running...RM

Working with diecast is obviously much more difficult than resin. Sometimes a mold of the stock body can be made and modifications done to the stock resin cast, but mold material has to be used. I chose not to do that with this truck due to it being too narrow. I have some pretty good Dremel cutters that make short work of the metal which makes it easier. Just the way this body is cut around the cab makes it hug the 4 gear chassis tightly. I had to widen the lower cab by flaring it a bit, widened and shortened the bed cutting it in half and separating it from the cab. This is my "Hillbilly Jig" I'm using to put it all back together.

So that's how you do that. I was wondering. A few die cast in my collection need some mods to make descent slot car bodies. Keep us posted on your progress.
Figured cutoff wheels on a Dremel would work but didn't know if there might be a better way

Bill I am new to the die cast and casting, so I may be doing this the hard way. I use a mini hacksaw blade that I have cut into a point with some tin snips for the die cast cuts. I also use that same saw for resin work. I have an Exacto saw now but still use that one a lot. I tend to make things when I need them....jigs....tools....etc....hence the term "hillbilly tools". That's just how I grew up doing things. The Dremel bits are carbide cutters in various shapes and sizes. I also use the emery cutting wheels and for the tougher stuff the diamond wheel. I may end up finishing this truck out as a lowered and widened stock version and cast it. Then work with that for the Pro Mod version like the Vega. I'm thinking out loud here....still have options. Thanks for the interest.

The "Freakazoid" 57 Chevy Pro Mod rolled out of AJR today. This is painted with the same color as the previous Vega was. I can't say I'm liking it though.......don't think I will be using this one again. This one will be Ebay bound. Maybe somebody will like the color better than I do. The chassis is a stock 4 gear that has had a little work and tuning, cluster gear screw mod, wheelie wheel fronts, narrowed rear wheels, and narrowed Jel Claw 2070 skins stretched over the 4 gear wheels.

Randy I think it might be more about the clear. We've talked about that. I think it's time to bite the bullet and go with the 2 part. Thanks for the good word guys! I just about have the 52 Chevy P/U street version ready for molding. A little more bodywork around the bed area is still needed and body mounts.
The underside shows some of the work that has been done. I use JB Weld when fabricating these bodies and it is kind of hard to tell the difference between it and the die cast metal. This has been totally reworked from the cab back. Running boards were shortened to bring it all together. I wish I had this one in real life.
