Found another body that I want to go with....'66 Fairlane GT. I am going with the smaller .438 silifoam tires to start out and that body fits the chassis well with those tires. Decided to also go with some aluminum Turbo front wheels for a better look. Custom wheelie bars will be next and then some chassis soldering. Should be ready for first pass shortly after that . I'm thinking that tire is going to be too small?? I might need to try and run some slip ons on a double flange rim to determine a size. I don't know....thinking out loud here. This will be a good opportunity to try some of the Firm and Extra Firm tires from hotiresdirect.com.

Where did you find the Gear Jeff? Al is correct. Sjracer was gracious enough to remember a conversation we had a couple years back and sent me that gear. The orange and black Superbird I just did along with some mods on a few pancake top plates was the trade. I am super appreciative because I always seem to miss out on the "good stuff". That gear is definitely "good stuff" .

Spent a little time on the chassis tonight. Added the basic stuff....braids, shunts, traction magnets. I've been saving these big magnets for something, now I know what. I think I'm going to need a lot of downforce. It's coming around......

I made my first order from hotiresdirect.com today. I ordered 3 sizes ranging from .431 to .458 on a .275 rim in C3 extra firm. The C3 are supposed to be for high downforce cars and they should not expand as much. With the lack of sili foams available, I am looking for a possible substitute that is readily available. My fingers are crossed. They do not offer as many sizes as I want in the C3 silicone. I will post my findings. Has anyone used these or any other high performance firm compound silicone slip ons? I am wondering if a tire like this could be glued on a double flange rim on some of the faster builds? Traction obviously would not be as good as sili foam, but if you can't get sili foams....you can't use them. They are also expensive. I don't know???

I have not found any glued on tire that will stay on an unlimited. I have had some luck with Super tires on inline super comp with double flange rims running smaller .430-.440 tires which don't have as much weight. Inline super comps are running in the 30+ MPH range and will throw off some tires. I have never thrown off a silifoam but I have torn off the silicone layer. Eagle did make me some silifoams that I have not run yet and Wizzard has some in stock but you have to call and ask for them.

My experience has been the same with the slip ons. Anything from Inline Comp on up just throws the tires off. I'm also just a little curious about the extra firm. Have you ever tried those? I don't think the Super Tires are an extra firm compound. I am educating myself here because I am not familiar with that compound of tire. It might turn out to be a bust I realize. We will see. At the very least, I will have some more usable tires for other stuff. My fingers are still crossed

I have not tried any extra firm tires. I do not think Super tire has any extra firm tires. I have had some tires that were pretty hard and the traction was awful. I did not try a tire like that on a car with super neo magnets however. You may have to be the one who tries it. I would not buy to many as I am not sure how it will work out.

I don't think they will be anything that would work on an Unlimited or maybe even a Super Comp. I would be pretty happy if they worked on a fast Comp car or at least allow some test passes to figure out the size the car wants and then order the sili's?? Once again....thinking out loud here. I use a lot of Jel Claws and they do not have an extra firm that I am aware of either. I only ordered a couple of pair in 3 sizes.....$15 investment. You mention traction.....that is my other concern with them. We shall see.

I received my order from hotiresdirect. Once again, I know these will not out perform silli foam tires. I am just looking for a viable option that might come close. The tires look good to me and they are tacky. The rim size will be important because these do not stretch like normal slip ons. But I knew that with a harder compound that probably was not going to happen. The .446 and .458 are for a .275 rim and the .431 are for a .250 rim. I mounted the .446 on a set of .275 double flanged rims and made a couple of runs with the unlimited Tjet I'm working on and they performed very well. It is only running mid .5's right now. But my 60' times improved with these over the sillis I had on it and this is a bigger tire than those. I want to see them on an Inline Comp or Super Comp running in the mid to lower .4's I need some more rims. I like what I'm seeing. I will continue posting my results.

I was looking for someplace to order some double flange rims and was surprised to find it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. Haven't needed to order many in the past. Found a pretty good site that has just about anything you need. Some of you may already know about it. JW's HO Speed Parts here is the link jwhospeedparts.com/index.php. I placed an order.

I found some of this and some of that but none of them had everything that I was looking for. JW's site had a great selection.
