some folks have put their pressure pot on it's side and placed a board inside allowing more than one casting mold to fit. I have one, but haven't used it yet. I am inspired to try it now.

Thanks for that tip. With the plexiglas that I use, it allows me to stack the molds in the pot. I can do 4 - 5 body molds and a couple of accessories. If I want to do more than that I will get another pot. But I can do several at a time with it in the upright position.

A little more pressure pot info. I can't remember what I paid, but it was somewhere between $80 - $100 tank only. I would not have paid any more than that. I've seen a lot of those used on Ebay as well. The actual brand is Aeropro #8312-T. It is 10 liter.
Once again, the vacuum chamber is a pressure cooker. I used the gasket from the lid and removed all the handles. Top diameter is 8 3/4" x 8" deep. The acrylic sheet is 3/4"x12"x12". A regular pot will not work. It will collapse under that deep of a vacuum. I had my concerns about the acrylic once I drilled into it. But so far so good. I have had no issues. Also....I do not use the vacuum chamber when I am casting and it is optional when making molds although it can be used for both. The pressure pot is necessary for both processes to help insure against air bubbles. IMHO

I want to give credit where credit is due. I post the How To's like this to hopefully inspire others to maybe give things a try or maybe educate those that are interested in how things are done. I can't remember anyone posting a how to on mold making or casting here, so that's why I did. I have been inspired over the years here on Nitroslots by SKR aka 660slots, Hairy Canary, Eagle Racing, Hilltop Racing, Lone Star Resins, and others. Eagle was the one that actually showed me how a two part mold was made and got me wanting to cast. I am just mirroring all the things I've learned from them. Hairy Canary and Hilltop have volunteered "golden" tips when they knew I was having trouble with something or even just a random nugget thrown out there to me because they knew I was working on something. I appreciate all of it for sure! Mold making and casting isn't hard, it's just a process. The reward is being able to make whatever I want to. Lots of How To videos on Youtube, but SmoothOn has some really good videos and the product line is endless.

First Beretta casting is out of the mold and it looks great. No issues at all.
This is the master and the casting.
All of the accessories looked good as well.
The master will now go into a ziplock bag in a case with all of the other masters that I have. I actually broke the body removing it from the second half of the mold, but it was only one side and the window pillars. I already repaired it. I haven't ever counted the how many castings I can get, but I'm guessing I get 30 or so bodies before the mold starts breaking down. I can probably get another 15 after that?? I will start counting on the Beretta and see how many I get. Beretta project is complete....now to paint one !

I looked at the used pots on ebay and the shipping puts them more than new. Harbor Freight has a 2.5 gallon for $100 and have a 20% off coupon good this coming weekend. I have a couple more used tool stores to check out this week and if I don't score one, I'll probably bingo for the HF unit this weekend. I have zero of anything to make the vacuum chamber or a pump. So, have been considering one of these units on ebay; link . I don't think I can acquire all the parts for what one of these go for, but still figuring up costs and comparing. Check out the link and give me your opinion on the ebay unit, if you want to. Thanks again, Jeff, you the man .

For some small time casting, etc. I think that vacuum pump should be just about perfect.

Finally finished this one. I started the '69 Nova twin turbo back in November along with the red Tbird. When the clear coat was applied, it fisheyed real bad. I've had to sand and re clear it twice. There is still a little bit of work still, but it can't be seen in the pics. The color is Santee Plus "Blue Pearl" lacquer polish over a white basecoat. This is another awesome 660slots.com casting!
