Nice work Jeff. I have been buying my traction magnets from the Chinese suppliers but if you are in a hurry it wont work since they take 3-5 weeks to get here. 50-100 small magnets for little money in sizes 5 x 1-2mm. I just ordered some 5x1 supposedly from a USA supplier, should be here in a week or so. I will send you some if you still need them and or I can glue some to your chassis when they get here.

No hurry on them. I was asking for future stuff. I have some to work with right now. Thank you for the offer. Are the Chinese magnets close in strength to the stock AW ones? Where can I find those?

Looks good Jeff, glad the brush setup is working. Certainly makes sense that it would. Gonna have to give it a go myself. I buy all my magnets from K&J Magnetics ( link) , they ship fast and have always been easy to deal with, for me anyways. Awesome thanks Gale. I will check them out.

I've been using these from home depot. There in the nails and screws section. Some cars I have grinder the side straight to get up next to the tire. They are just a bit bigger than an autoworld magnet pocket. Never even thought of looking at HD. I will be there tomorrow. Thanks Sam.

Found these on Ebay and thought it was a decent deal. I think most places are selling mean greens for $6 dollars or more armature only. These came with the AFX top plate, pinion and cluster gears. Good quality on these and all measured 6.1 to 6.2 with matching poles. $20 + $5 ship puts them at just over $6 each. I listed the link and Item number below the picture for anyone interested. That's a good deal as the pinion alone will cost another dollar over the cost of the arm.

Some mean green arms are amazing. I have had many that were quicker than 4 ohm arms and even below 4 ohm.

I thought this might be interesting and maybe amusing. I was going through my hobby room closet the other day and I stumbled on this buried in the back. It's my "Hillbilly Timing System" that I built back in 2013. Eagle Racing gave me the components that he started on before he got a Trackmate Basic. I added the magnetic switches and the microswitch for the track. The start line magnetic switch worked fine, but I could not get the finish line to register the car. So I made a switch out of a microswitch and a piece of credit card. The car would actually make contact with it to stop the clock. The digital stop watches have a wire soldered to the start/stop function. It worked really well. I had it on 6' of track and my first 10a/30v power supply. Made it to the Finals in the first race I entered after tuning with it. Ahhhhh those were the days. It was fun back then and still is today......

It is fun to engineer your own items. I made my own dyno which I still have and it works. Thing is the track shows me more than the dyno does. My first timing system was a slot dragon which worked well.

My first timing system was a slot dragon which worked well. I have made most of my own stuff due to budget.....or lack of. But I enjoy it so that helps a lot. I like the dyno you built. I remember when you and Sam compared the ones ya'll built and how similar they were. My first system was also a Slot Dragon. I had some trouble with it but I think they have worked those bugs out now. I was given a Trackmate Basic system that I used till I got my current Trackmate DP3000HO. Both have worked flawlessly!
