Get some testors 3502. Pop the window out. If it's super glued use several toothpicks at various angles between window and roof. Work slowly pushing on each one slightly and it will come out.
After the window is out soak it in some alcohol to get some age grime off it. Then use a toothbrush and soapy water to clean up the under side a little more.
After it dries brush on a thin coat of testors 3502 on the bottom. Give it 4 to 6 hours and brush another thin coat. Give it another 4 to 6 hours and do it again. Let it sit over night and hit it once with a thin coat in the morning. In the evening go check the body out. It shouldn't be brittle anymore. It will have some flex. If it seems brittle still you can repeat steps until you get what you need.
THIN COATS IS A MUST!!! I can't express that enough. If you go overboard you can turn the body into a puddle of mud.
You can use the 3502 to fix the pillars as well. If you have donor pillars, you can pre wet the pillar ends and where they go on the body. Let them sit 30 minutes. Pre wet again and put them in place. Leave over night and the plastic will be bonded like it came from the factory.
The testors 3502 will break down the plastic into liquid and then dry back up into new plastic. If you have extra material you can put a couple pieces in a glass bottle then cover with 3502. The next day you have filler material to use. Dry times are the killer. After a repair is made it takes a couple days before you can try and sand on it. The longer you can wait the better it is.
Play with a junk yard body to feel it out. You'll see by adding more or less testors when you break down material for filler you can get diffrent viscosity/density out of it for different applications. The thinner it is obviously the longer the dry time. What ever you do don't use it stringy. If it's stringy just add more testors to the bottle and let it sit. Best part is if it dries up just add testors you can just keep reusing it over and over. The "Goop" master is model murdering. He thought me about it. If you look into it and see anything by him it's worth reading.

No heat needed If you use testors. Forgot to say. When your brushing the bottom slightly give pushes on the roof. The testors will soften up the plastic to be pushed back in place. Just put some cardboard or something between the body and roof where you want it. After it has some dry time it will stay there like it never moved.

I have never tried to do it like that. I believe I have some of the Testors already. I want to try and keep the body lines and not have to recreate them with bodywork. I would also like to cast the front window separate if possible, but that will depend on if I can get the roof to stay where I want it. The pillars will have to be created from scratch. They were missing or unusable. I appreciate the tip!

If you go the testors way you should be able to get the hood back in place with minimal additional work. Just take your time at it and avoid aggravation by walking away and come back later. Do you have anything for donor pillars? If not I'll raid my junkyard and see what I got.

I wonder ..... the roof on the Cuda is bent down! could you reconstruct the windshield to fit it like it is and make new window posts? might lend more of a swoopy race look to it as a master for resin. just sayin

The one that I sent you pics of is in similar condition. When the windows were snapped into place the roof aligned perfectly. If there is some way to coat the glass so that the goo won’t stick, that may be a good way to do it.

Looks like the easiest way to go about it. That body has a very low roof line as it is.

Update on the AFX Cuda build for those that might be interested.........neither heat nor chemical worked to straighten things out on the Cuda. This plastic is just too old and brittle. Maybe it's been in an attic or something and gotten baked....I don't know. So I went old school and took the Dremel to the unsightly bump on the hood. I have epoxied underneath to strengthen it and build it up so the casting won't be so thin in that area. I will rework the hood with putty. Had to make some relief cuts on the rear pillars because they were cracked. I have new rough front pillars in place and the roof is in the proper position. I'm also going to use epoxy underneath to strengthen them and smooth everything out on top. The rear bumper and tail lights will be molded in as well. Close to bodywork time.......

Jeff that Cuda is looking good. You chose a mighty big chore restoring that Cuda. Can’t wait to see the final outcome.

Rick had sent me a few of those awhile back that he cast, but I can't seem to find them now. One is on my Cuda.

I have just managed to get a Cuda from eBay U.K. mine is in good condition but missing the wheely bars. It came with a Pinto and both are fitted with non Magnatraction chassis and mean green armatures . You are making a good job of that body Jeff, it’s always a good feeling to restore an old body.
