Have heard the term TCR before. Total control racing, right? Checked a few sites but did not find anything. Are these a thing of the past, are parts available, namely arms? Hoping they are and you might know who has them. Other than the name, I know nothing of these.

Yes TCR is a thing of the past. If you go on ebay I would think one would find them in the post 70's section of HO slot cars listings (that's where I got mine).

There are 3 of these wide gapped style long shaft arms under "TYCO TCR parts Chassis #2" in the post 70's section of HO slot cars on the bay ending in just over 2 days.

Very interesting build. Looks like 2 rear sections put together with the pickups in the middle. Hope you do enter it in the January race. I can record reaction times along with 60'. Those times should be superior for such a car. After that the extra drag might hinder performance slightly. This is the kind of innovation I like to see. It shows ingenuity and imagination. Not doing what everyone else does. If everyone did what was always done we would still be using stone axes. I don't know if anyone else remembers Tommy Ivos 4 wheel drive dragster from the 60s. I saw it run live a long time ago and back then it was beating the blown Hemi's.

I think you may be correct on the drag effect in the long run. One of the problem is getting just the correct amount of down force or traction. Been experimenting with stock, poly and neo traction mags and thats why am using the round dot kind from LL T-chassis. It's always fun to get out of the box lol. So far though the AWD's will out run normal 2WD both running equal arms, mags etc @24v. That is once you can get power to the motor, PU shoes are the biggest hassle now but it's fun:) One thing I desperately need is a timing system that will record ET's even on a red light. Gonna have to save up for a Slot Dragon. Don't know if those new Dragmaster systems will do that. I've always wanted to hook up like a Torqueflight on the front of a nitro F/C to run the front tires just to get the clutches in the main tranny time to engage properly before it has a chance to go up in smoke. perhaps one could program the front tranny to go into neutral say after 100mph. Maybe someday if I win the lottery...

In full size drag racing currently, to my knowledge, no one is running 4 wheel drive in modified classes. I think the extra weight, especially rotating weight, involved would be a disadvantage. In stock classes yes there are some cars that use 4 wheel drive and they run pretty good. They seem to have an advantage off the line. Most of the 4 wheel drive advantage seems to be on tracks with a lot of curves and on dirt where traction is limited. I ran RC cars way back in the late 80s and the 4 wheel drive cars had a slight advantage on dirt, even on dirt ovals where specialty 4wd cars would outrun the 2wd. Does not seem like the extra ring and pinion in an HO car would cause that much more drag. I am prepping several cars to run in the Outlaw classes and am looking forward to the challenge. The slot dragon system works very well, is reasonably priced, and I highly recommend it.

consider the Summit timer. www.summitracing.com/parts/ept-sct-14ait does all that SlotDragon does plus allows for sportsmans tree and has win light at finish line. it is available right now for around $100.00 shipped where as the SlotDragon has escalated in price to around $140.00 or more. I have ordered the Summit system and I have a DP3000 Track Mate I need to install. therefore, my SlotDragon is available if anyone is interested. PM me.

I was just looking at the same system on Jegs and they have it for $69.99. I'm not sure if it's the same thing or not. It doesn't say anything about coming with the transformer. I'm seriously thinking about getting one, seeing how I need to get my Slot Dragon updated and I need the photo eyes.

One thing I noticed on the Dragmaster system is that the sensors will slide some horizontally to accommodate the different scale tracks, my problem would be without modification it probably won't fit over my track. Don't know if anyone has seen em yet but Traxxas has a new drag timing system using horizontal beams for their rc cars that you can incorporate ones smart phone. Again would need to be modified for HO scale which is ok with me but there again at $200..... Alpink, I just sent you a pm regarding the SD.

Getting back to the AWD's, like I mentioned earlier if all the cars are running the same Ohm armatures, then the AWD will hold it's own. However, I use those long shaft arms so the Ohms are about 6-9 range, so against my 3 and under Ohm arm 2WD's it can't compete unless the competition is dead late on the tree. Thought about re-wiring the fried long shaft arms but alas my hands are getting too old and don't really have extra funds to have it done...lol

Display looks pretty good. How are they separating the 2 lanes? I don't see any device that goes in the middle of the track to separate the times for different lanes?

Dave, I believe it is similar to the slot dragon with sensors in the track and a beam from over head. that's what my gut, instinct and experience tell me. if you are talking about the Jegs/Summit systems I cancelled my Summit order ( 99.97 to ship on 12/22) and ordered from Jegs ( 69.99 to ship 12/10).

Makes sense, a light beam from above to operate the sensor in the track. Hope the system works well so more of the racers can have timers for their tracks. It sure makes it more interesting and I think it will give a boost HO scale drag racing.
