Saw the phrase "basic tuning and adjustment practice" under another recent thread. Was also stated that these practices apply to all NTRA classes. Wondering if the basic tuning practices were listed someplace. Or what they might be. Seems I differ from others in what is considered basic. At 8 years old I was shimming magnets but did not bother with a crown gear in a pancake chassis till I was 54 and blew the crown gear at Sgrig's event last year. I know magnet shims can not be used in "Street". But since this is perhaps the most simple basic thing I know of, where does this apply (not talking about gaping).

In the Legacy rules for Sportsman classes, it list most of the allowable tune-up procedures under the section labeled " Chassis:". Many of the procedures are explained in Tuning the Pancake Pt 1 (T-Jet) and Tuning the Pancake Pt 2 (Magna/ X-Traction) Also, under Magnets:just below the Chassis section it states that non-ferrous shims may be used. As it applies for the Legacy Stock Class, I would think it to be legal for all classes. In any case no chassis cuts should be applied to Legacy Sportsman Group Classes nor to any of the Magna/ X-Traction classes. Not all tuning procedures outlined in the tuning How-To's are approved for all NTRA classes. Be sure to check rules before performing any of the procedures
