Well gang, I've been pretty quiet on here since my move into my new place. Been working on a LOT of 'life changing' events. And, things are looking VERY good for my future!
Most notably, it looks like I'm going back to school! Just got accepted at the Art Institute of San Antonio yesterday. Will be going for a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Media Arts and Animation. It's a 3 to 4 year program, so it won't be easy. Gonna have to quit my current job to devote full time to studying. Which is not really a problem since I've gotten burned out on my job anyway. This is the second time I've burned out, first being in 1996, I stopped and opened a detail shop in the Midwest. Then after that folded, I met Bev and moved here to Texas. Only went back to doing autobody repair because I could get a job and had a wife to support. I've spent 37 years doing it, so I am pretty scared about making this move, but at the same time I'm looking forward to it! And, when the Director of Admissions was interviewing me yesterday, she said I was very positive, and a very smart and interesting person who had a LOT of knowledge that would work very well in a career in this field. Said she saw me as the guy who could put together a team of creative minds, and be the leader that would get the job done! Made me feel REAL good that somebody recognized my talents! Said she wants to 'groom' me into the kind of guy that could do that, and would see to it that would be the direction my career goes. So, looks like I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel! Of course, there is a LOT of classes to take with this, including math and English too, so it's not gonna be ALL 'fun and games'.
One thing this does mean tho, gonna be a LOT of hard work. And, since I will need a part time job (getting loans and grants for school, but still need to pay my rent) I will also be spending more time casting and selling resin stuff. Plus, this also applies in what I'm studying for, one of the classes is modeling (like figures and props) so it will also be practice too! LOL!! Will start with 2 classes a week, since I'm starting 'mid term' (in August), and maybe if I can do it, will bump that if I can to get it done quicker. Have to see on that tho.
But..won't stop me from racing tho, just might not be as often. My first concern will be school and bills. After that, I can have fun! LOL!!
Just thought I'd let some of you guys in on this.
