The 1st and only bracket race was held in January 2013. I would like to do this event again in January at the Blacktop Raceway. The event was for the in line chassis only. Why? because no one was running in line chassis at the time in NTRA events. I would like to see this become part of the NTRA series like we have now. The three tracks in Texas know how to run this event. That would be at least three races, unless somebody doesn't want to. I am not opposed to opening it up to Tjet type, 4Gear, Magnatration type chassis all running with the in lines.
I still believe that this is an easy way to grow the NTRA racing program. Nice way to attract racers that want to race but don't have the equipment to class race.
Let's have some feedback on this subject.

Robert you and I already discussed this briefly. I am definitely willing to do a bracket event. I am currently upgrading to the Trakmate basic system. Should be complete within the next 2 weeks. Currently waiting to receive my laptop I purchased on Ebay. Trying to get a few things in place to possibly pick up one of the recently cancelled events. I also like the thought of opening it up to other chassis types to attract new racers. Count me in.

I think a bracket race open to all kinds of chassis is a great idea. Just like the real world - run what ya brung. A bracket event could then be used as a test session for a later race also. Seems like the best way to include as many people in the race as possible.

Bracket racing would open the door for any racer especially newbies to get in some race action on equal footing with the other racers. I would like to see it run as it's own series. At a minimum, run every other event to allow newbies and anyone seeking to race on a budget by using what they have and be able to join in at any time of the calendar. As chriswfo has mentioned, it opens up the opportunity to get in test runs for futures races. I think it is a win-win for all. However, we may be limited to the number of bracket races run due to not all tracks have the necessary timing equipment to host a bracket race. Hopefully, all that do have the necessary equipment will be willing to participate in a bracket racing series.
Hey Racemasters! Let us know where you stand.

Bracket Racing 2014? Bracket racing is the best way for a low budget racer to compete in drag racing. Will it bring new racers? I don't know, but what I do know is I like my racing as close to the real thing I can get for the dollar.I think if you wanna bring more members and keep them coming back we need update class rules and make them easy to find and understand, but also set a standard guide for hosting so all the races are run the same way at each track each time we race.I love drag racing and my family has a history of doing the real thing for years and some of them still do to this day.I have done real bracket racing in both NHRA and IHRA,but my dream was to race a heads up in a Pro Class won day if I could afford it.I can't afford the real thing anymore so I'm back to racing slot cars like I did when I was little and my goal is to go heads up as fast as I can in any class. AS LONG AS I KEEP HAVING FUN I WILL KEEP ON RACING!!!

I like the idea of bracket racing as it levels the field a bit.
All tracks are a little different, but that is realistic. Surface conditions, temperature, building materials, even o2, and humidity levels change how cars run at different tracks. I think the track requirements and listing of how they are built is awesome.
A bracket race allows newbies like me to target in on making a car perform consistently. Once we learn that we can work on speed.
My only suggestion as a newbie, for the class descriptions and rules, is perhaps a link to a glossary. I had slot cars as a kid but I don't know what most of them were - 3 gear, 4 gear, tjet etc. The only ones I can be sure of was a set of Total Control Racers with a jammer car. Honestly if I didn't have jjwallace close on hand, I wouldn't have had even a decent showing at the Summer Nationals; if I raced at all.

Great comments, most repeated seems to be that the rules be in one place. I agree, needs to have it's own heading something like NTRA DRAG CLASS RULES.

Doug I'm glad you acknowledged that. I've been thinking I've been missing something because I have been using the directory ever since the site changed back in March to access all of the rules. All of the rules are easily accessible through the directory...with the exception of any updates. A tech thread might be nice at some time, but it is fun and interesting to go back through past posts and find stuff. I'm in the process of going back through the general topics thread now and bookmarking a lot of the tech stuff. Even if it's tjet tech stuff, it can still apply to 4 gear or xtraction builds. The archives at the top of the page also has excellent tech info. as well. FYI......

I brought up finding the rules because of trying to draw new members, not that I can't find them myself.

Just reminding others that it's there Tom. I've heard that from others forum members too. It would still be nice to have them all in one place without the links though. The directory was a big improvement in itself. I am sure that everything will be fine tuned in due time. All the different suggestions are good to hear. I would think that Cordell likes the input and forum involvement. Your enthusiasm is great. I'm with you on that.

I like the race scheme Doug, they make a minature Munsters House for Halloween decoration that lights up. You can also print in color the house just Goggle it and cut out and glue to chip board to give it a 3D effect, cheaper. Very Cool ,

The chipboard is easy to use and cheap too. Just cut it with a utility or exacto knife. Hobby Lobby has it in all different colors. Looking good Doug. Grown men playing with toys....gotta love it...lol!
