Need some help with hollow (SS) axles. Can not get hub or gear to hold. Both spin on axle, old or new. Tried Loctite, red & blue. Super glues, liquid & gel. And roughing up axle.
Also thought it would be helpfull to have thread on axles. Over time I've tried, drill blanks, broken bits, aluminium tubes, brass tubes, plastic rods, fibreglass, etc. etc. And now after being away fron the hobby for years the number of various parts available (for any given application), is hard to get a handle on. Different materials and sizes, some that will work in various cars and not others.. I believe there are two diameters used by manufacturers, but not sure of who uses which. Be it material, size or splines. All have applications they can be used for and those they can't (without help). Being able to reference all the info available could be helpfull to all, especially someone new to the madness. If we get enough imput from members,, a table or chart could be put together highlighting what or which axle will work for a given chassis. ........................ PC

PC Peter I have had very good luck with Loctite Black Max or most recently JB Weld. The JB Weld makes it a little difficult to get back off, but nothing a Dremel can't handle. I obviously make sure there is no oil residue. As for wheels, regular good quality super glue has worked. I have used these on my F.E.D. builds. FYI........

It about $8 or $9 for a small tube but it lasts awhile. I have only been able to find it through some of our online parts suppliers. Never used the JB Weld stick. Only the two part cold steel that has been around forever and most recently the JB Weld kwik. Which is just a faster setting version of the original.

Hey Jeff, not sure but stick might be older than the 2 part. Dad used it when I was a kid. Some time passed before I became aware of the 2 part. Stick is also 2parts, you cut of a piece mead it together till uniform in color. Have not used in some time, just picked some up when problems arose. .................................. Peter
