Recently members have expressed ideas for events with different........ themes. Both team & invitational events were mentioned. Posting any more on the thread this started on doesn't seem right (hi-jack). Since various ideas were expressed about the way such races might be held, someplace more appropriate seemed the way to go. So speak-up all, one persons ideas might lead to anothers light bulb going off and the way to put such events together.
Team events were mentioned and a few ideas on setting-up teams........ Was thinking keeping teams entact throughout a season might turn out to be difficult. I mentioned the "Manufacturers" race at LIONS.. If I, remember corectly sign-up also included the type or make of vehicle entered. And put those signing up for race into one of four camps which they would have to qualify in to get one of the top four spots and move on to the points rounds. Thought it might be easier to form teams prior to events rather than trying to keep
teams together over the months that might pass between such events.
Mentioned also was the idea of having "Pro's & Rookies" team together. Not bad, but how do we deterime who falls into what category ? If the answer is deterimed by the lenght of time being an NTRA racer. The fact that some very capable newbies have joined the fun could lead to some lop-sidded teams. Could racers be categorized by perfomance over past events ? Perhaps a minimum number of events should be participated in so that a perspective might be gained as to which category a particular racer would fall into............... OORRRRR, all could just let me pick the teams ..........(trying not to lol)................. no, would never work (ok, I was lol)......I could pick a dream team, but then have no clue.
Seems like such events would be fun, and others seem to be of the same opinion. The sign-up thing is the best I can come up with right now. But I'm sure drawbacks exsist.
Lets all help each other out and fiugure a reasonably fair way of doing such races. Should be fun for all.......... Peter
