Searching the web and came across these brush-less mini helicopter motors. Anybody ever play around with them? Looks pretty close to the size of a slot car pancake armature.

Hi Sam, I have a bunch of them as used in small indoor RC airplanes I fly. Most of them run on 3.7v and have some pretty good RPM but very low on torque.
Nice thing is everyone I have are very smooth and quite. Some can get up there in price. Most of mine were around $20.00 a pop.

Sam, never have seen one of the motors pictured. I've put tail rotor motors (can type) into cars. The pictured motor reminds me arms from trains. Could never figure timing on some. 5 pole.motors can be wound completely different from one another. With same brush location. Gave up on them without tackling arms with more poles. Looks like you have 10 or more poles on arm....... let us know what happens........ ......................... Peter

Might be a little difficult due to the added need for an brushless ECM. For low voltage one may be able to add an ECM within the vehicle but higher voltage ECM will be almost as big as your slot car. Still interesting concept. JW
