yes, SlotDragon begins counting the ET time when the light turns green and determines the RT when the light hits the starting sensor again after staging. so, deep staging will result in better RTs and much better ETs. this can all be proven by allowing excess time when the green light appears which will result in a poor reaction time. then deep stage the same car in the same lane and try to cut the best light you can. the resulting RT because of the deep stage will be very low and the ET should improve dramatically. I like the system and am using it presently. but there is that drawback to true ET which should be independent of RT.

I don't know about the old slot dragon but the newer one I have does not start the timer until the photocell is uncovered. I can sit there for any length of time after the green comes on and the ET does not change. Deep staging will definitely decrease the reaction time and lower the ET with my system. I always hand stage the cars to be as fair as possible. I used to play around with the 7" that is between the stage beams on full size drag strips. When I was qualifying I would always shallow stage, this would allow a slight run up on the start beam and be worth a few hundredths in ET. Since I was heads up racing this occasionally made a difference in qualifying position. On the other side of the coin I would deep stage during eliminations to lower reaction times and gain a slight edge at the start.

Cars came home this past weekend and I just open them today. Dave thanks for taking on the troubles involved with running this event this year and thank you so much for the event stands for the cars. You really went above and beyond what anyone could ask for in a Race Master. Check for a PM from me.
