Just. read post by , dave632 . We have a core group of racers....... some that come and go......... and some new members , that hopefully become part of the core group....... We race together from month to month and untill now I thought we did well as a group......... this as for ET's for class types.........
But how do we compare to others ? ........... those not part of the proxy racing we do.......... individuals or clubs.......... wondering now.
Sam , if you catch this - how do our MM/PS , compare to the cars you & friends are running ?

I believe I can speak for the Texas racers and answer this post title. YEP! Peter just look under Drag City USA track records are posted. Proxy racing is a lot harder than going to your local track. There is a lot that can happen to your car between here and New Zealand. Think about it, shoes are just one critical adjustment on HO slot cars. We wrap them up and stuff them in a box and expect them to perform like they did on our local track. Most of the time we get pretty close but every now and then the car is just not right. If your at your local track no problem just fix it.

Does it really matter how we compare to local racing? I think dave632 comments may come down to the amperage that his power supplies will support. Don't know for sure, but from the pictures posted of his track it looked like the power supplies are the older box type?? I don't think they support the higher amperages. He would have to elaborate on that. Amperage will make a huge difference in times as we all know. Before I had my power supply I was running with a wall wart. My times were much slower than what was being run at our races. So I would make a relative comparison while tuning and try to get the cars as fast as possible with my supply. I was fairly successful. Dave632 should look at it the same way if he wants to race and get a comparison in times from his track to the times we are running. If amperage is the issue, then his cars will run much better at Blacktop and other tracks with the better supplies. A little research of past races will show the difference in times from track to track. I really don't see why any times that we are running would be any different than times being run at a comparable track locally with a comparable power supply. I mean.....why would it be different. Eagle makes a very valid point as well about cars being shipped and the all critical stock shoe adjustment and being able to do on site tuning. That is a huge advantage of local racing. A lot of times it can be a roll of the dice as to how your car will perform for proxy racing.

I have an adjustable 30 volt 10 amp supply ordered and on the way. I know amperage makes a big difference in certain cases, (imagine trying to start your car with a 2 amp supply), but if the cars are only drawing .2, (some of mine measured .3-.4) of an amp how is more amperage going to help. I do currently have a couple of old aurora 20v transformers powering the track which supposedly supplies about 1 amp to each lane but that is something I have not checked. We will see what happens when the new power supply arrives.

I know what you are saying, but it does make a difference. I thought the same thing. I think your cars will wake up. I look forward to the update after you get it. I also posted on this subject on the other Max Trax thread.

Read the other thread, looking forward to the new supply. With electricity you can be fooled at times. I remember trying to figure out why something did what it did when I was repairing electronics. Some I never did figure out. Here is one for you. A DC motor will not run, brushes good, windings good, magnets good, commutator perfect, and timing right. I asked the manufacturer of the motors if he had any ideas why and he did not, never figured out that one.

Hey guys, was just trying to get a handle on how we as a group compare to others doing the same thing. Dave, just happened to say something that triggered this thought........ nothing to do with anything else.
Dave , from.the times you posted for the G's. Eagle , was right something is amiss.......... try slip-on silicone tires if your running sponge or stock , they will out perform either....... and shave tenths easy......... the timing can be advanced , via the adjustable bell housing or by increasing the bend of the little arm thingy holding the brushes inside the bell housing...... or both.
Check electric conections like mentioned........ also the brush contacts on bulkhead can get flattened and end up a weak link..... these can be reshaped so they have a slight arc and will give you better contact & flow. ....................hope this might help , Peter

Thanks for the info. Some of the cars have silicones but not the greatest type. I ordered some gel claws which I think are a better brand.

Sam , if you catch this - how do our MM/PS , compare to the cars you & friends are running ? .......... Peter Peter I haven't been back over to race since the proxy event. We will have a bit of a learning curve since we were use to running on high down-force tracks. We will have to put in stronger traction magnets, smaller tires and test gear ratios. I'll let you know E/T's when I get back over to race. Rick races on Saturday nights which makes it hard to go race in the Summer months, seems like there is always something else going on. I need to get Rick and Dan to start racing at 6am throughout the Summer months, I'd be up for that.

Last years best E/T at Voltage Valley NTRA International for stock 4 gear was 1.113 for JJWallace. There were 9 passes during eliminations under that time this year. JJWallace took out top E/T again this year with a stunning 1.021.
