So with Coop off racing BMX this weekend I had time to start getting parts together so he could start testing and assembling over the next couple weeks. My job was to ohm out the arms and zap and match magnets. Since I have not spent much time with the AW X Tractions I have never really compared more than 4-6 ever. So I took apart all the X-Traction cars we had and started noting the specs of each. My gauss meter that works with my magnet zapper is off being repaired so I just used a simple downforce method using a gram scale. Most the magnets were very consistent with a few hail mary numbers and a couple refrigerator magnet numbers. The arms were all over the place ranging from 14.5ohm - 17.7ohm with a very consistent average of 15.4ohm. I have arms from 2002 JL to 2014 AW and year of manufacture did not seem to matter as I had winners and losers in all. What I did notice is that there are many comm plates that are loose on the modern AW stuff. The trend that was very odd to me was that the arms with the lowest ohms had the strongest magnets and the arms with the highest ohms had the weakest as if it was planned that way. I would say this was true 95% of the time. Tomorrow is the last free day I will have for a good month so I am going to get all my zapping done. Going to reverse polarity in a few to get some perfect matches and see how that works. Been 15+ years since I have touched my zapper.

Did you build that zapper yourself? If not where did you buy it?
