Thought this gear type comparison might be of interest to some of us.
This is from the Scaleauto website "The Nylatron plastic material was originally developed as a gear material and has a natural lubricant mixed into the material. These gears work best with BSRT G-Jets up through Super Stock cars (ceramic magnets). Delrin is a tough plastic material which shrinks more than other gear materials. This allows you to potentially use a larger crown gear for the same application since it will have more clearance off the track surface. We recommend delrin gears be used with ceramic material magnet cars such as Super Stock and Ceramic Modified cars. BSRT's Poly gears are super tough glass-filled gears designed for use with higher energy magnet cars. These would include any cars using Polymer or Neo magnets."
The nylatron will be a little softer and probably will give you better gear mesh. The delrin will last longer but may not give you as a good of a mesh and may be noisier, etc. You will want to break in the new gears before running on the track for best mesh and longevity either way.

Maybe nylatron could be used in say a mm/ps but it would be expected it wouldn't last very long. I have always used Delrin for this class and haven't noticed any issues with wear.

I just ordered a batch of all three types of gears and will do some experimenting when I get the time.

Hey guys, keep in mind the article is a manufacturers recomedation of their products. I suppose they know best how their products work together. Only you can determine what is best for your cars. Try different combinations. I would recommend a softer crown than pinion. And spacing is real important. Reason I say softer.crown is because in my experience the pinion life is extended. I had delrin pinions ruined by both nylatron and delrin gears. Tried brass pinions and lost those to delrin. Those cars have steel pinions now. Right now my mm/ps have delrin pinions and crown could be either nylatron or delrin depending on.ratio.wanted. Don't see difference in cars performance based on type of material used for gears. Only life of gears. ...... Peter

Thanks for the info. I will be doing some experiments myself.
