Started the framing for the new track setup. Track will still be the same length, 15' 7" but the shutdown will be 7.5' or 4.5' longer than it was. Smoky Mountain Dragway will be the name for the track.
Will be ready well before the January race.

SMOKY MOUNTAIN DRAGWAY is well underway ! Excellent name Dave, when my dragstrip is finally finished I'm gonna call it Drag-On Valley. And use a Dragon logo; same as Lions strip uses a Lion ....Terry

Thanks, Drag on sounds like a winner. I like the Dragon idea, you could also use a picture of Bruce Lee there. Here are a couple of more shots with the plywood on. Track will now have 22.5' to work with. Doing something like this make you find out how crooked some of your walls are. At one end it dipped in 5/8ths of an inch.

OK Peter, Jim says he has one of my chassis ready. The Hotter pancake winds should be here before the race, hopefully in time to set them up. Terry, the framing is pretty basic. 2x2s mounted to the wall, legs and rest of framing made out of same material and 1x4 face board. 1/2 inch plywood top.

Dave, Do your posts & pics about your cars under this thread....... all be in one spot. ...... Peter Better yet.......Dave you might want to start a Smokey Mountain Dragway thread under the HO DRAG RACING TRACKS NEAR YOU / HO DRAG RACING CLUBS headings. Most of the other tracks post stuff about their tracks or projects there. Also this is just how I and others have done it, but I post all race type info under the NATIONAL THUNDER ROD ASSOCIATION / 2015 NTRA EVENTS headings. Doesn't really matter how you want to do it but it makes things easier to find later. I am one that goes back regularly and looks at past races...posts...etc. Cordell does eventually move races to the look back tab but other projects and stuff can get lost pretty quickly depending on where they are posted. Your track is looking great man! I am envious for sure. Really am enjoying all the project posts recently. Your enthusiasm is infectious. Thanks.

Peter I will be posting some info on the cars I will be running in the outlaw part of the race.
Will post a new thread under the heading HO drag racing clubs near you.
I do hope some of this action will get some interest going and hopefully the bracket race upcoming will get some new members who don't think they have a chance in other events sending in some entries.
