I have no problem with a weight limit but I must say with the high powered cars it made little difference. In the recent inline Outlaw race the heaviest car won and it was about 5 grams heavier than it's competition. I think the weight gave it a little more traction off the line as it won by a car length which it got in the 1st 60 scale feet of the race. They ran down like they were glued together after that running identical 47.35 mph. Actually lost the reaction time battle by 3 thousandths but got the 60' by 8 thousandths. I do think this may not be the case for other classes but I surely will test that theory when the time comes.

Dave the Doorslammer class has always been one of the NTRA's biggest customizing classes. There are others, but this one has always brought out the customizers. The minimum weight limit was to help promote customizing instead of trying to shed weight for speed. The addition of scoops, wings, pipes, etc. I agree that the hotter the build...the less weight matters....to a point.

Weight for Doorslammers is 25gm min and all cars will make weight before qualifying starts. I will add weight if needed so everyone will race.

Since the minimum weight is not addressed in current rules. Such a proclomation was addressed before seasons start. Special rules need to be declared well before race ! Such as the black tire thing. Though past racers may have been aware of this omission (if it is such, we have no word yet). Those new have no way of knowing about it. Like Gomer said....... surpise , surprise ! I think it is best to let it slide for this race and a definitive answer be put in place asap. Otherwise wait til you see what Doug makes up a week before the race. ........ Peter

I agree for this race, "let it slide", as adding weight in certain areas can be an advantage for some cars and a disadvantage for others.

this discussion is beginning to sound as if it has personal undertones. certain sentence structures come off as ultimatums. while I don't have a dog in this fight or a horse in this race, I detect something that has gone amiss elsewhere and become ungainly. I would prefer that didn't happen here. we are, afterall, playing with toy cars. it was my understanding that this was a fun place and fun races were conducted here. if I am reading more into some parts of this discussion that no one else sees or wants to see, please forgive me and tell me so. Don't see anybody getting unruly here Al just a discussion on how to handle something that was missed.

Just back from PO.......... I mean haulers just pulled out , be there by Wednesday. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE ! Looking forward to the racing.

Tom, whatever the outcome of the weight thing. DS weighed 24.9 after removing wheelie bars (to long for rules this year). Added 0.2g to get 25.1g. If scales are off , PLEASE scratch entry. Have led glued under roof and now rear with goop added. Rather not add more, class has never been strong suite.
