The idea of minimum weight is intended to allow builders to do more in the
way of body customization. Minimum weights were only imposed on the
classes requiring higher performance builds. It was intended that minimum
weights be applied to some of the builds prior to the release of the new 2015
Contemporary Rules. As is obvious now, they were omitted. It has been
implied that the announcement of a weight requirement for the upcoming
event was known among some and not dispersed to the general membership.
Not so, everyone was presented with the same rules at the same time. Rules
were released in December 2014, however the question of weight for DS
class race did not arise until January 30th 2015 @ 9:43AM. A response was
made to the question stating that a 25gm minimum would be imposed. This
response was not something the RM took upon himself but was initiated by
Race Coordinator as an answer to the question. The 25gm ruling shall stand
for this event. Any car not meeting the minimum weight shall be brought up
to spec and allowed to race. My apologies to those that the weight omission
has caused discord or hardship.
It is now necessary that the remaining builds requiring weights be put in place
prior to the March event. Please post any concerns regarding minimum weight
within this thread.

A poll has been added to this thread to get a general consensus of the members
opinions on minimum weight. If you do not find an option that is agreeable feel free
to post your suggestion within this thread. Minimum weights will not be applied to
all builds, but primarily some of those that allow chassis alterations and require body
modification to meet body class conformity. In addition to encouraging more body
customization, minimum weight should also be looked upon as a challenge to the
builder to be competitive while still meeting build specifications.
