Hey Flat, Remember seeing you say that you added some pressure to brushes by pushing on contacts. This is usually a good thing to do. Often it helps. When doing so try to keep contacts as flat as possible or parallel to chassis floor. If an angle is created it is transferred to the spring and then brush. Resulting with a brush tilted to one side. And less surface contacting comm plate. While additional pressure may help. A better seating of brush along with additional pressure will help more.
With the rear of engine compartment being higher or deeper than the front portion on 4g's. Making the rear brush slightly higher than front is needed to get equal pressure on comm by both brushes.
I've come to believe a slight stretching of springs to be better. But brush heights are different and sometimes just changing brushes will work. All is experimenting.

I concur stretching the springs is the best IMHO. I would try different types of brush material also, take notes on performance increase/decrease.

I figured keeping the plates level with the chassis was a good idea, i stuck a punch on the inside of the chassis in the brush tube to help straighten as i bent them, i then used a small flat head screwdriver to bend the inner portion of the plate inward to move the whole plate inward. I still dont have a timer or any way of seeing how much, but i could physically see a difference.

Ive tried i havnt gotten doing it down by myself yet, my kids are the only crew i have at the moment, 3 gummy bears every pit trip i make... they are expensive. If i teach them how to use the stop watch there gonna want a raise to oreos and milk... times are hard id have to buy the generic kind.
But who really likes generic oreos...
Yuck
