yes, Tomy Japan produced two race sets in 1/87 scale that were only released in Japan. four different body styles altogether. there have been other brands of correct 1/87 scale slot cars, foreign made, that weren't prolific or well known. even Micro Machines slot cars aren't 1/87 scale. so, that leaves us with what we have available, which seems to be dwindling quickly. since the 90's, I haven't seen a race set from any manufacturer that says HO on it. I could be wrong and I know that will be quickly corrected if so!
by the way, what is Tetsuo?

I think part of Aurora's sucess in their early days was in part a fluke. From what I remember cars of the time were accessories for train layouts. Aurora , made a track piece with "HO" train rails crossing it. Trains had hit their heyday, modeling & for real also. But this countrys yearning for growth & its expediency was food for slot car growth. Its need for speed had existed for 200 yrs. And slot cars quickly became racing oriented instead of just accessories for trains. I'm.curious , why Tomy would produce a car in 1/87th scale ? What once existed w/trains is gone. Unless they thought they were going to revitalize slots. Much like was done with making N scale trains. I could be wrong, but it seems like producing a scale with no viable market is a mistake. So here's my dumb question - why would somebody want a true 1/87 scale slot car ?

For dual layouts....... ok. I get it.......... do you want some HO trains ? Got a box full.
I doubt any such thing would ever happen as the melding of scales between cars & trains. Years ago it may have worked. But intrest in trains was yielding as slot cars were booming. Modelling itself is dying out becoming a lost art so to speak. The people doing it are getting older. So trying to sell them smaller stuff doesn't make sense. Unless its a last attempt at opening wallets from a different angle. I've seen the tiny trains. And for modeling there to small, unless modeling landscapes with something that moves.
I understand running both together. Did it when I was young.......... never did like when cars would knock off the trains at crossings though. Thats where the difference between the two was most evident to me as a kid.
If you or someone else wants trains for cost of shipping let me know.
