Looks good Alan, what did you use for the center barrier?
Shipped our cars off to the race today. Son helped with testing, wants to know why mine are a little faster than his. Answer: Magic looney tunes dust??, and I did 90% of the work. His car out qualified mine last time despite mine having a tenth on his here.. Go figure.

Barrier was made out of strips of Evergreen styrene. I routed a slot in the center of the track 1/8" wide and 1/8" deep. On the bottom of the barrier is also a 1/8" square piece of styrene that fits down in the slot in the track which holds the barrier in place. Sign itself was done on PC with Corel Draw.

All the haulers have arrived as of late last night. (Got home late from the office!)
Will get things set up and start qualifying the cars by this afternoon.
As a side note: do not expect super low reaction times - OLD AGE ISSUE!!!
I would like to take this time to thank those who took the time to build up some cars for the X1 and X3 events and also those who sent in cars for the 143DRG to be held next weekend.
Thank you Peter C for the give away HO bodies and also Alpink for a bunch of 1/43 Willys bodies to be shared among those who will run in the 143DRG event.
The STREET BATTLE will be conducted over the next 3 days. Best of luck to all the entries and again thank you.
Best
ALan

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE RACERS........ Hope things go smooth with event. Looking forward to the racing....... and finding out if X3 will stay on track with no t/mags (wheelie bar seemed the ticket before rule change).
Alan, if there are no objections......... perhaps you could point out which cars are using t/mags prior to racing. With that info any differences in performance should be easy to spot as races progress.
Can hardly wait for things to get going......... Peter

Peter some of mine and my sons X3s have both. All have traction magnets of some kind. The early version AFX cars, the ones with T jet style magnets, all have wheelie bars.

Good Morning everyone and welcome to Maple Groove Drag Strip.
Maple Groove runs both HO and 1/43 scale cars and is located in the Dallas, TX area.
Today will be a long day as I do have a minimum crew and intend to take our time with it all as there is a lot to do.
To clarify a recent posting: Both the X1 and X3 quals were run at the voltages set forth in the rules. 13vdc for X1 and 18vdc for the X3 and will remain so.
Now to find my coffee cup!
We will start up soon !
Thanks again for looking in!
Alan

Yes nice coverage, I want to know how you made up that ET grid, I would like to incorporate that into my events. I had no clue about the stock X1 class and was surprised the cars did that good. My son listened well and all those cars were prepped almost identically. He was my whole pit crew when I raced the Pro Mod in the past and he has worked on cars for years. The X3 type cars were a different story, lots of testing there. We prepped about 5 each out of the large group of X type cars I have. Then picked the best 2 of our cars to send. The Yellow 67 is an old War horse that was always a little terror. The armature in that probably has near 200 passes on it since it was drag racing way back in the 70s. Never ran much roundy round even then.
