My Friend wanted to customise his cars and have 2 complete racing teams for our HO series. He asked for a coast Guard theme and an old STP indy car type. I've done better work but he really liked them. I was very specific as to what he wanted and I would have added more detail but he likes simple looks.

Nice work. I seem to always struggle painting white cars?? The trick I think is that white can be watered down it seems. So I first used Tamiya white spray primer. Works great for anything. Very flat and "rough" so you need to sand it and its made for that. I tried to airbrush a testors white but it loked more light gray then white. The Tamiya is very bright white, and that was what I was looking for. Again I used some old OPAQUE air brush white, from my art school days and it covered nicely. I did very little sanding/buffing before decals just wanted to gloss it a bit and used micro set decal solution.
Then came the daring part, the hold on to your butts part. I covered the cars in a clear laquer top coat (testors) It works great but is a little "hot". was worried about it ruining low quality decals or the fact that the white was very acrylic type. I had a little bit of peeling wrinkle effect show up on the STP legend car, but I think that may have been a humidity issue.
Bottom line make sure your cars are really dry before adding gloss coat, and apply in light layers. I saw a great recommendation. if you can smell the paint, it aint dry! so put it under a light for 24hrs.
As for the white I swear by Tamiya products. Hope this helps!

Good stuff, Not sure which fleet I like the best!!!RM Surprising I liked the Coast guard ones. And the irony is I don't like blank or white race cars! But it looked clean and bold. The STP was tricky because of the color. I researched it and I have seen pictures but there is a lot of debate. It was a day glo orange/red and probably in real life very bright/ florescent. I do know however certain colors act differently on TV and on film. The NFL NBA and nascar know this, and your local news casters. So you have to decide if you what perceptual color or actual color. I tried to do a little of both, as I bought the perfect color at the hobby store (actual) I mixed it down a bit because it was too glowing. cdn.barrett-jackson.com/staging/carlist/items/Fullsize/Cars/181235/181235_Rear_3-4_Web.jpg
