Hey guys! My name is Dan-O, I'm 35 years old and live in middle TN. A good friend of mine just got an HO drag strip for us to play with this winter so I've been lurking on here for a few days getting some info. I dug up a couple of old Tyco cars of mine from a loooong time ago and just pulled the trigger on a new Tomy Mega G with a GT40 body. Hopefully that will make a good drag racer. I'm a street car guy so naturally I want to keep that style. I would love to find a Fox Mustang body but I haven't found anything like that yet. Anyways, I just wanted to say hi and thanks for the great forum!

Welcome to Nitro Slots Dano! I know Tyco made a Fox body Mustang that will fit a 440-X2 pan chassis. It doesn't look too bad except for the front wheel well openings are too big.

Thanks for the welcome guys! Just got the Mega G in today. Man, it's really nice! Can't wait to make some base line runs. Looks like the armature is the same as the old Tycos. So, I have a couple of questions... What is the correct way to check the ohms of an armature? I tried yesterday with a good Fluke meter but I never could get a good solid reading on anything. Also, where is a good place to start for go fast mods? I'm guessing tires and taking magnets away? Well, here she is. Bone stock...

Now that is a sweet looking car. I have always liked the GT40 cars. What I do to check an armature is first make sure the arm is stable so that you can put your leads against the comm plates without it moving. Set you meter on regular ohms setting. Do not auto range....the readings bounce around too much. Then put one lead on one comm plate and the other lead on another one and you should get a reading. Be careful not to scar up the comm with the point of the lead. Do that for the combination of all 3 comm plates and that will give you a reading for all 3 poles. Gears and tires are the easiest places to make performance gains, but the sky is the limit. Lucky Bob's, Wizzard, Jags Hobbies, etc. are all good places to go for parts. Jel Claw makes a very good slip on tire. Check the bottom of the Forum main page for links to some of our sponsor vendors. Hope this helps.

Here is a good article concerning the Tomy G+. It illustrates how to ohm inline arms and the difference between Tomy arms and Tyco arms in reference to timing. Like JJ says, make sure the arm is stationary and does not move. ninjatekprojects.com/PDF/TOMYSUPERG.pdf

That is a great article Vince. I had forgotten about that one. Let me take this a step further. Dano at the top of each page is a blue bar just above the Facebook logo. All the way to the right on that bar it says Archives. There is a wealth of tuning info there for several different chassis types including the article mentioned above. Also towards the bottom of the forum main page is a section called tech tips.....more great tips there as well. Check it out! Seriously........priceless information.
