Dave, You could go with a 20v 10 amp power supply. A few of the guys on here have them. Someone else will have to chime in with experience on anything smaller.

Dave I use a Mastech 0 - 30vdc 0 - 10a power supply. Cost me about $150.00 brand new. It has performed flawlessly for 3 years and it has the volts and amps to run anything I need to run. It was money well spent. Welcome to the forum!!

Roughly 15 and a half feet is scale 1000 ft. The lowest power class that races is 13.8 volts. I like running 18 volts and have a 0-30 volt 5 amp variable power supply.

I use and like 0-30 variable volt, 0-10 variable amp power supplies I have purchased on eBay for around $85.00. there are probably other sources for the same products, so search around.
