So you want to build your own track... I'd go to Home Depot or Lowes, buy a full sheet of MDF, get them to cut your MDF to your desired track width. (Now depends on the cutter, I'd see if he/she would take 3 or 4 cut track pieces, stack them up, then make another cut on all 3 or 4 pieces to make sure they are all even. Give em a few dollars, it's worth it)...Now when you get home, mark out your guide slots, use one of your cut boards as a router guide, clamp your guide in place checking the router cut on each end, be sure and face the router bit to the slot mark in the same position, and check each end again. Get you an double fluted 1/16th inch router bit. Push, never pull, your router... Cut both of your track guide slots. Make you a guide base plate for your router,(or you can use your straight edge guide again), then route your slots for your rails or use the tape you mentioned. I'm not sure how long the copper tape will last over a period of time??? Go ahead and route the rail slots while you got evrything set up. You can always lay the tape on top of the slots, and if the tape doesn't work out, you have your rail slots. I'd go with a wire rail...Paint your MDF with a primer, then a top coat, then do your rail work. Do a youtube search, I'm sure there are plenty...As with anything, opinions will vary. Hope this helps...RM

That's where the big debate comes in... go to some of the boards and do a search of track building and rail types...RM
