We were posting some videos on another site so here is my video, the Beach Boys with SHUTDOWN:
I was around when these cars actually hit the strip and I have a kinda funny story.
I did not have a Vette but I did have a 55 Chevy with a 327 roller cam, dual quads, 4 speed, 5.57 rear, etc. Guy had a brand new at the time 426 Hemi Plymouth with the aluminum front end etc. We happen to line up at the strip, frankly I tried to line up next to him. The 55 ran C gas and held the track record for its class at the time. Still I was 100 cubes down. I get a slight hole shot on him, about 1/2 car, and hold it thru 1st and 2nd. Here comes the Plymouth as I hit 3rd, but the finish line is also coming up quickly. He gets to about my front fender when we cross the line, 1/8th mile. The funny part I did not see but I was told the guy pulls into the pits, pulls the nice aluminum hood off the car and disgustedly flings it. If he kept the car it is now worth a very nice house in a very nice neighborhood. I have another much more tragic story about those cars but I will keep this subject light.
